Weekly Wisdom #264 - Flip Your Fear Upside Down

A short Weekly Wisdom video by Dean Graziosi (uploaded Nov 24, 2013) encouraging viewers to reframe fear as a motivating force rather than a paralyzing one. Graziosi also urges setting 30-day goals with small celebratory plateaus, taking action (especially in real estate education), and practicing gratitude around Thanksgiving.

I have to say that every week because this has just turned into such an incredible place to meet and be inspired, be taught, be motivated by the people with the same mindset. Everybody on here has a bigger future to do better next year than they did last year. And that's why I do these weekly wisdoms for you each and every week. Okay, a couple of cool things. Next week I'm gonna announce who won a new cell phone because they posted one of their deals or many of their deals on my Facebook account. You can like me on Facebook over here someplace. If you have any deals, post them on Facebook. What I said a couple months ago is everybody who posts deals on my Facebook account that they're doing will take those deals, put them in a big bucket, pull out a name out of the hat, and one of you wins a new phone. I'm going to do that next week. So if you have some deals and you didn't post them, can you get over there on Facebook and make it happen again? Register for this site. Check out Insider Elite. Meet all the incredible people here at this site. Okay, couple of things I want to talk about. Last week I talked about setting some 30 day goals and I hope you did that exercise. If you didn't, please go over here. Click on the Weekly Wisdom. Watch last week's Weekly Wisdom. I think it's really important heading into the end of the year. This isn't a time to coast. This is the time to get ready, prepared so you can rocket ship it out of next year in 2014. Okay, so I gave you this little mindset of how to approach this 30 day goal. One thing I want to add to that, so there's going to be two steps, two things to today's block. And I just thought of these on the way walking in here, like how can I enhance that? I want to make you to make sure that at each little plateau of success in your 30 days goals where you're going to figure out your goals, what you want to accomplish, figure out what could go wrong, and figure out the solution in advance. But as you accomplish your goals, I want you to set these little plateaus. If you were looking at a chart, it'd be like, I'm putting a pin there. When I hit that, I'm going to take me and my husband or me and my wife to dinner. When I hit this one, we're going to get massages. My neck's been bugging me for months. Anyway, when we hit here, we're going to do something else, or we're just going to have a nice dinner, or we're just going to celebrate or we're going to practice a day of gratitude. I don't know what it is, but you need to celebrate and pat yourself on your successes along the way. What so many people do is say, in real estate, when I do my first deal, then I'll give myself a little pat. No watching these videos, being a part of our education, stepping out of your fear, taking action, knowing more about real estate today than you did a month ago or six months ago. They're all plateaus of success and they should be celebrated. But you also could add one more element. And if you didn't take action, you should make sure you have a conversation with yourself and find out why. And that leads me right into fear. Chip, who's been with me for years, has filmed most everything I've ever done on tv. Spent a couple days with two of our amazing students this week, and he said one of their biggest motivators was fear. And that's all he said to me. And I was like, wow, what a cool thing for all of us. Because most of us, fear is what cripples us. Fear is what keeps us back. Fear of not sounding smart, Fear of failure, Fear of looking stupid. When you talk to a real estate agent if you don't know what you're doing, or fear of not having enough money or fear of not having enough time. Fear is what paralyzes all of us, man. Imagine if you just flip the fear upside down and you just said, I have a fear of not talking to an agent. I have a fear of not doing my first deal. I have a fear of being like everybody else. I have a fear of falling in the status quo. I have a fear of not being able to help my kids out. I have a fear of not having retirement money. So that fear is going to be now my driver to push forward, not the thing that paralyzes us. See, we can make a decision just like that. What if you decided fear is not going to be the anchor holding my ship. Fear is going to be the wind blowing my sails? How about that? What about just deciding right now to flop fear on the other side of the line? Stop with the fear that paralyzes you and find the fear that motivates you. That's my message for today. I hope you have a wonderful week as we get ready going into Thanksgiving. Now, if I don't send out a special Thanksgiving message and this is the one you watch, I just want to say I am thankful for you. I'm thankful for deengraziosi.com I'm thankful that I was lucky enough to stumble into real estate. Thankful for my family and my children and my life. And I'm thankful for all the things that I screwed up and all the things I did wrong because it catapulted me to another level of life. And I'm thankful for everything that's happened, good, bad or otherwise, that brought me right to this moment. And I'm very thankful for you. Thank you for having the faith in us, the faith in me, the faith in our education. Please continue on your journey to taking your life to another level. Have an amazing Thanksgiving with your family. I know sometimes holidays can be crazy. They're a little crazy for me sometimes. But if you can find a way to be grateful for being right here, remember there's a lot of people that wish they could be you. So help them. Help yourself. Have an amazing holiday. And I can't wait to talk to you next week.
