Hey, everybody. Dean Graziosi, welcome to the Weekly Wisdom. You know, this month I want to focus on time. The lack of it, the dilemma in today's society with cell phones and text messaging and emails and social media and busy, busy, busy and trying to beat the clock in an economy that we're still trying to figure out. You know, we just feel we don't have the time to change our life. And this month, I hope maybe last month or last week, you saw my video where I talked about emotional time. You know, we're always so obsessed on the clock time, but we forget that we can waste energy and waste our momentum on emotional thoughts. And today I want to talk about wasting your time and energy on doing the wrong things that aren't moving your life to the direction you want to be or your goals. You know, it's like we're two people. We want more out of life, we want a better relationship, we want better health, we want to make more money, but we're spending time on the things that, that can do the complete opposite of that. And we just, sometimes it's hard to figure out. So today I want to share something I first learned from Dan Sullivan, one of my mentors in Strategic Coach. I pay $25,000 a year to get trained four days a year, four one day time periods a year with a bunch of other great entrepreneurs. And I've learned a lot on how to prioritize because one thing we all have in common, we all have 24 hours in a day. It's just how do you use yours and how do I use mine? How does somebody else use theirs? Right? So we talked about emotional time last week. If you didn't see it, you should watch that video. It's really good. Today I wanna go over here on the whiteboard and I wanna share what you're spending your time on. Now, this is extremely or exactly as Dan Sullivan talks about. We all have a unique ability that we're born with or we've evolved to, or that we're passionate about, the thing that makes us feel the best when we do it and cuts us our biggest checks, right? So let's just talk about finances here today. And there's things we're excellent at, there's things we're good at, there's things we're okay at, and there's things we stink at. Now, if you've been with me for years, you know, I've covered this probably a couple of years ago, and we're going to cover it again because here's what happens as entrepreneurs, as people that want to get more or achieve more out of life? And that's you, or you wouldn't be watching me. When we are the people that have said yes to things that other people said no to, we say yes to trying real estate, to going to the gym in the morning, to helping a friend out, to working overtime, to taking on projects. We say yes a lot to get where we want to go. You're the person, you know that says, if you want something done, ask the busiest person you know, you are the busiest person other people know. That's why they ask you. Okay? But if yes got you where you are, I want to share with you that no can take you to the next level. And here's what I mean by that. There's things that you do that when you live in your unique ability. Let's just use an example, could make you. I'm going to exaggerate here, and maybe I'm not exaggerating at all. $1,000 an hour, let's say it's real estate, right? It's real estate. And if you're making offers, if you're making offers and you use the 25 to 1 strategy or use bandit signs or Craigslist the right way, and you're putting in the time, and in three hours you find one deal that gets locked up and wholesaled and you make 3,000 bucks on it. Is that $1,000 an hour? Yeah. So is that realistic? Yes. So I'm just using real estate right now. It could be anything in your life. So you could be making $1,000 an hour in your unique ability. But let's just use real estate and let's say that you're spending four hours on a Saturday handing out bandit signs or going putting me in the ground. Is that something you could pay someone $10 an hour or get a relative, a friend, a child, a niece, a nephew, a neighbor. Right? And you could do it for $15 an hour. What I want to use this huge range here is what happens as entrepreneurs, as people that take charge, who are busy. We're so used to saying yes to everything that we could be ignoring the thousand dollar an hour pieces to be doing the $15 an hour or $10 an hour things. Does that make sense? You know, I'm going to use this example. If my dad's watching, he'll laugh and he'll remember this. I remember when I was maybe in my late teens or early twenties, I owned my first apartment house already. I got it for no money. Down. It was beat up. No one else wanted it. I repaired it myself. Things I don't teach now, like we shouldn't. But I had, at the time, I had no money. There's a 10 unit apartment house. I lived in one of the apartments. But at the time, I was getting momentum. I had a car business and I was doing real estate and I was getting momentum. And I remember they used to charge me or I remember I used to mow my own lawn in this apartment house on Sundays. I would take a half a day and I'd mow this lawn. Then I'd weed whack. My allergies be bugging me, my tears be running down my face. And finally I found out I could get someone to mow the entire lawn for 50 bucks a week. And I remember my dad came the first time someone else was mowing my lawn. And I remember my dad saying, how much that guy charged? I said, 50 bucks. He goes, see what I mean? You're wasting money. And I'm saying this because my dad's going to watch this and laugh. He says, you're wasting money. You could be doing that and saving the $50. But I was really blessed at a young age to realize that if it cost me $50 to get the lawn mowed and it took literally at least four hours. Sorry, that's way down there and sloppy. I hope you can see it. It's $50 and took four hours, right? What's that? $12.50 an hour? What I realized at that time, I had apartments I was trying to build, buy raw land and put houses up. I was fixing cars and selling them. I realized I was worth hundreds of dollars an hour. So if I would just focus in my unique ability or things I'm excellent at, that could make me a thousand and maybe this goes down to 5. 500 an hour, and this is 100 an hour, and this is $25 an hour. Right as you go up. This model is. If I was in my unique ability or even something I was excellent at, I could make $500 in an hour when I was wasting four hours for 50. Now, I'm using this extreme case here because I want you this week to figure out what the heck are you wasting time on? What are you running on a treadmill? Doing that you could get someone else to do, or you could find a virtual assistant online. You know, so many times in life, somebody will go, oh my God, you got an assistant to do those things. Couldn't you do that yourself? You're spoiled no, I'm not spoiled. I found a way to work in here. Things I'm excellent and good at that pay me so well that when it comes to things that are even down here, at $100 an hour, I'd rather pay someone else. Now you're saying, oh, you got money, Dean. It's easy. But it doesn't matter where you are in your life. If your unique ability pays you 50 bucks an hour, 20 bucks an hour, and you're doing stuff, you could pay somebody $5 an hour. It's still an ROI. It's still a return on your investment. And as Dan Sullivan teaches it, as I've been going through Strategic coach now for about five, six years, is. It's like an onion. The more you understand this, the more you say, I'm never doing anything I stink at anymore. I'm paying someone, and I'll just work harder at what I'm good at. Then it's an onion. And all of a sudden you go, well, then I'm not going to do any more things that I'm just even okay at, because I can afford $25 an hour. I'll just stay in my unique ability. And then all through the years, you go, hey, I'm not doing anything I'm even good at. I know the things I'm good at. I'd have to pay somebody $100 an hour, but I'm making three times that an hour when I live in my unique ability. And what Dan Sullivan's goal is to get where you don't even do things you're excellent at anymore. And I'm evolving. I'm telling you, I'm about here. I still do this, but I'm hoping to get to a point where I just live in my unique ability, because then if it's outside that, I can just pay someone else to do it. So this week, again, I want you to start writing down what you do that. You just go, why am I doing this? Right? And it's not about being spoiled. Get out of that mindset. My dad's parents went through the depression. He was born depression. It's if you could do it, save the money. No, look at it as an ROI if you can pay someone to do it. I don't care if you have a job. If you can get a personal assistant to run your laundry, do your dry cleaning, go grocery shopping for you, do all the things that eat up your time, and you could take that and invest it back into real estate investing, that could make you $1,000 an hour. I'm just using hypothetical numbers. But what is it in your life that could pay you more and what can you get rid of? You want to open up time in your life? Clock time.
