Hey everybody. Dean Graziosi, welcome to the Weekly wisdom. And this is part two of a two part series of on Money. And I asked you last week to try and figure out what your relationship with money is. It's one of the weirdest relationships in the world, especially in today's society where we're being taught that money is evil and the top 1% are bad and the middle class is going away and the lower class is getting worse. And again, I'm going to say this again. I'm not saying that's true or untrue. I'm not saying that's good or bad. I'm just saying it's so emphasized. And the left says this and the right says this and are we going to stick down the middle? All of it drives me crazy. It's why I don't watch the news. I worry about my family and my life and helping those that are ready to be helped. But with that, it's like money has got this negative thing, your relationship. I was saying last week, you know, if money was on one couch and you were on the other and I was the counselor and I was the money counselor instead of the relationship counselor and therapist. What is it about money? Do you despise it? Are you jealous of it? Do you hate it? Do you want it? Do you love it? Right? So I want you to find out what that relationship was. Because the crazy part, most people have this weird relationship with money, but it's the thing that stresses you out the most. It's the thing you worry about. It's the thing you fight with your spouse about and your kids about and your parents about. It's the thing that causes anti anxiety medication and ulcers pain. But this is something we hate. It's like being in love and you really want this person but you push them away and then think about them every day and wish you could have them. It's so insane. So I want to give you my thoughts because I've been thinking a lot on this topic lately and I believe my definition of money is it gets to make you a better version of you. If money earned ethically and spent and saved wisely is the greatest gifts you could give to yourself, to your family, society and the world. And here's why. Here's what I know is I was broker than broke when I was a kid. Most of you know my story. If you've seen me before. I lived in a trailer park with my mom when I was young. I moved in with my dad when I was 12. Years old and I lived in a bathroom with my dad. He was in a house with no heat. Some of it had no walls. At night we'd plug in a heater and drag a mattress into the bathroom. I'd go to school without the dollar for lunch. And a lot of times we planted, we ate out of the garden or we didn't eat. My dad had a truck that was 20 years old with no heat, the window busted out of it with the back door roped on. And he dropped me off from school down the street. And that's all true. And I just know when we were young, all we thought about was money. It was just the only thing on our mind. There was no time to be my dad, to become his best self. His whole thing was going after money. But what I realized, and this is not the way to get money today I'll have more series on that in habits on money. I promise you, I just want to start this relationship and get you a better relationship with money. Because for me, when I look back and I can talk through this and talk with empathy and understanding because I was that broke person with freezing and no food and all that kind of stuff. I've been through all these phases so I can talk intelligently on this. What money's done for me, and maybe this will spark some thoughts for you, is now that I'm a dad, I get to be the healthiest I've ever been in my life. Extra money has allowed me to be a better person in my health wise. Why? I can get a personal trainer. I can have a really great gym membership, shop at Whole Foods and have nothing but organic food. I go to a nutritionist who checks my blood every three months and make sure and get the right vitamins that match up. And today I went and got an IV. A vitamin IV. I get one every single week. I'm 47 right now. I just turned 47 and I feel the best I've ever felt in my entire life. Why is that important to me? Well, I want to feel good, of course. But what's more important is I'm setting a standard for my kids. Exercise and health is just a way of life. That's it. I exercise every morning at 5:15am I eat right. I do a spinach and protein shake every morning. They watch me do that. They're picking up the same habits. My daughter is starting to run with me one day a week. She's nine years old. She's doing Shakespeare. I don't have to teach them or show them or tell them how to be healthy. They're learning it by example. I couldn't do that if I didn't have money. So money helps me there. Money. When you can cut a check for a problem, it goes away. I've helped my stepdad through a medical situation that he could never had done if there wasn't money for it. I cut a check for that problem. It went away. I retired my parents when they were getting older and didn't have the money or the resources. I cut a check for that problem. It went away. I had credit card debt when I was younger. I worried about it all the time. When I paid that off, it went away. This week, anonymously, I'm paying someone's debt off. About $12,000 in debt. They're stressed out of their mind. Incredible human being taking care of two young kids doesn't know where the next meal's going to come because all these bills. I'm paying off all those debts anonymously and getting them enough to live for a year. There was a problem. I cut a check for it. So that makes me a better person in my heart. I cut checks all year for people. A lot of times anonymously. I don't brag about it each week. I get to be a better dad. Yesterday I found out my kids were going to the park at 2 o' clock in the afternoon on a play date or 3 o'. Clock. As soon as they got done with school at 3 o', clock, you know what I did? I packed up and I grabbed the football and I went and played football with him for three hours. I coach my son's baseball team. I go on dates with my daughter. I get to be the dad I always dreamed about. I get to read a personal development or an inspirational or spiritual book every 10 days. I read a new book. Never did that. I didn't read any books up until seven years ago. I hardly read any books in my life. Just no time. So this sounds like I'm just bragging. And then if you're watching, you might go, oh, great, Dean, you got a wonderful life. No, I want to give you the tools to make more money. But before we get there, if you have a horrible relationship with money, you're going to keep pushing it away. If you resent it, if you despise it, if money's evil to you without you realizing you're never going to attract it. Never, never bring it to your life, but you're still going to be stressed about it. So this is a video. This is a wake up call to find out how you could be a better human being, not just buy the Mercedes in the big house and be a big shot and impress your friends that shit means nothing. Excuse my language, but it means nothing. It doesn't make you a better person to have things. But when you become better and you set an example for society, you set an example for your children, you set an example that sticks in your family generation after generation, that's when you have a good relationship with money and that's when you start attracting it.
