Weekly Wisdom #370 - Stop Self Suffering!

Dean Graziosi's Weekly Wisdom episode encourages viewers to end self-inflicted suffering by practicing self-love and emotional self-management. Using a personal story about teaching his daughter to not internalize others' negative words, he urges listeners to become the 'thermostat' of their lives—observe thoughts, refuse to let external actions dictate feelings, and consciously choose to live in a "beautiful state."

Hey, guys. Dean Graziosi, welcome to the weekly wisdom. It's an honor and a pleasure for those of you who are returning. Glad to have you here. For those of you new, I'm glad that you took the chance to watch me here. Whether it's on YouTube or Facebook or at Dean Grazioc dot com. It's a pleasure and honor to have you here. Okay. We're just post Valentine's Day and it made me think about love and the relationships we have with other people. It kind of made me think about looking in the mirror and the relationship we have with ourself. You know, last week, if you watched my daughter, interviewed me, it was amazing to have my little girl sit right here and ask me four questions that she came up with. And she really did ask me those questions. And it was an honor to serve and give her that and share with you at the same time. But I've also been dealing with her in school. She's in third grade. And sometimes even in third grade, girls, boys can be rough, right? It doesn't matter mean my daughter's perfect. It just means there's already clicks. There's already kind of the mean girl or the one that wants too much attention or someone who's left behind. And talking to my daughter helps me so much to clarify the things that I've worked on my whole life and the things that I hope to share with you each and every week. And what I've been working on with my daughter is love, but love of herself. And my son as well. He's seven, but he's not quite there yet. He's just having fun with his friends. Where I see there's kind of some drama going on with my daughter and. And she'll come home. And it's so much the question of what someone else said or what someone else did and how that affects her. Right. And as I'm teaching her love of self and not letting someone else's words affect her. You always hear me say, be the thermometer. Don't be the thermometer. Be the thermostat of your life. I find myself helping her answer her own questions. But I realize how important it is to set this foundation for her that other people's words, what other people do, shouldn't affect how we feel. If someone does something and we get mad, we made ourself mad. If someone else took advantage of us, whether they did or not, we have that choice to let that feeling fester inside of us and make it an ugly feeling. And as I'm teaching my daughter. You know, there's one girl that makes her sad sometimes. And I said, that girl's a great girl, she makes you sad. I'm sorry, but in your head, what if every time she did something to make you sad, you just said, oh, she's sad, silly. And you just keep repeating that mantra, oh, she's so silly. Oh she's so silly. And laugh. And literally she started doing that and it's helped her just in the last two days. Now why am I saying that to you? Because as I'm talking to my daughter and I'm telling her this, she looks at me like I have this figured out. And two days ago I said to my daughter, she looked at me and said, dad, I hope this can work like you have it, you know, so perfect. And I said, oh, Bri, her name is Brianna. I said, if you think daddy's got this figured out, it never ends. I still have people that'll do things and it makes me feel a certain way until I catch it. I said, bri, this is a never ending journey in life. We're always climbing or we're sliding. We always have to evolve, we have to learn. Me even helping you, hun, has helped me be better. Because without realizing the outside world affects us, it puts its cloud on us, it puts its sunshine on us, right? And until we can find a way to be the observer of our thoughts and love ourselves enough to not let those outside words, those outside actions to become, make us become the thermometer until we become that thermostat and the foundation is love for oneself, we will always ride this wave. And I feel blessed that I'm able to help guide my daughter at this age. But I realize even after all of these years of me doing this and teaching you and writing books and this is what I do for a living and inspir people, it still happens to me and it still happens to you. So what we need to do is just be consciously aware. Just, you know, I was blessed a week ago yesterday I had dinner with my good friend Tony Robbins. And him and I had this wonderful dinner and we got talking about living a blessed life, living a beautiful life, just making the choice to live a beautiful life. As easy as it sounds, when things go wrong, you can go down the rabbit hole and why it happened and whose fault it is and who's trying to take this from me or who's taking love from me, or did I? Was I not good enough? And we can find a way to suffer so many of us have found suffering as a way to suffer, then rebound and suffer and rebound. What if we just cut out the suffering and decide to live in a beautiful state all the time? Now that sounds like puppies and rainbows and unicorns and oh yeah, that sounds great. Dean. You don't know what I'm going through. I get that. So with all that said, you know what my message is today? I just digressed and went all over the place. It all starts with self love. You wouldn't treat your best friend the way we treat ourselves sometimes. You wouldn't make your best friend feel bad like you make yourself feel sometimes. You wouldn't call your best friend a loser or not smart enough, but you would do that to yourself. Start with Self Love this post Valentine's Weekly Wisdom Start with loving yourself. Start with recognizing the words and the actions on the outside that are affecting you. Start with self love. Become the thermostat of your life. Try not to go up and down. Be the observer of your thoughts. And what if you said to yourself ten times a day, I'm just going to live in a beautiful state and not have to suffer to rebound? What if we just cut off the suffering and just go right to the rebound? I'm Dean Graziosi. Thanks so much for watching this Weekly Wisdom.
