What does success look like - what is 'success'?

Dean Graziosi asks what success actually means to you. He defines it as time freedom to coach his kids' teams, protecting relationships he's learned to value, and financial security. The point: attach your real definition to your goals, then work until you reach it.

Don't accept no. And know at the end of the rainbow is your next level of life. Welcome to the Dean Graziosi show. All success starts right here. I'm so excited today because I want to talk about something that's really on the front of my mind. I want to talk about what success means to you. Now. Setting goals, amazing. You need to. Having a brighter future, having it written down, having a vision board, thinking about your compelling future, Absolutely a must. And it's needed. Writing down physically, and I know I said this, but writing down your goals and actually looking at them at a daily, weekly, monthly basis, yes. But I want to go upstream a little further and I want to ask you right now, right this very moment, what success means to you. Because here's the thing. I know we get delusioned. We sometimes get even a little bit envious or we admire people that are listen, I'm standing in front of my brand new house. I love it. It's a freaking monster. It's amazing. It's the house. When I was a kid, I drive by, I never even saw a house like I have, like, and if I did, I would like. There's no way I could ever get to that point. I'm living almost in a fantasy. But I have to be honest with you. As much as I love this house, every inch of it, what success means to me is the ability to have control of my time because of the dad I want to be today. As I'm sharing this, I just got done doing homework with my kids. I picked them up from school at 2:55 and I'm going to be immersed in homework, making snacks, tell them to pick up their clothes off the floor, go out and throw the football with my son. I'm going to make them dinner tonight. And tonight we're watching the series the Walking Dead. It's like I've never watched Netflix in my life. I've never watched a series. I hardly ever watch tv. But me and my kids were loving the Walking Dead. To me, that's the most successful day or one of the most successful days of my life. I'm in an amazing relationship. I found love at 50 years old on a whole nother level. It's incredible. Success means to me is being able to be consciously aware, to listen, to do the right things that I don't screw this relationship up. I wasn't perfect in my last relationships. Hell no. I'm not like, oh, my ex messed it up. No, I was just as big a part of screwing it up is her. But I've learned from that. So what success means to me is reading books, asking people are happy, emulating people that have been married for years so I don't mess this up because I have a love of my life. That's success to me. And simultaneously, I can't pick up my kids at 3. I can't spend the time needed to romance and be in this relationship and keep it strong if I don't get money out of the way. So being financially secure is beyond important to me. So what comes first, the chicken or the egg? Do I need to get successful so then I can have the freedom? Or do I focus on the freedom and then success follows? Here's my belief. First off, let's go back. What does success mean to you? Me is picking up my kids at 3 o', clock, being able to coach Little league, coach softball, be there, not miss those things. I will fight for it. I will die for that success. Take this house away from me, take everything away from me if I can have that. But that passion, that desire to have the control, that no one tells me what to do, when to do, how to do it, when to take vacations, when to pick them up from school, that emotion that knowing what success means to me means that I fight harder than most people. I work 25%, 30% harder than most. I have friends, I have dear friends that are putting some effort in and they want more out of life, but they don't fight like I do. I don't take no for an answer. If there's a brick wall in front of me, I'll blow it up. If I blow that up, there's a steel cage. I'll dig under it. If there's something else, I'll take a blowtorch and blow through it. It doesn't matter. Throw 5,000 obstacles in front of me. I will pound through it. I will find a way around it. I will not accept. No, I will not accept failure. Because I know what success means to me. It's not just the big house. It's not just the car. I love it. I'm so grateful. I want all of it. But the most important thing to me is my freedom for my little babies inside. And I wish I could say they're little babies as I'm recording this. They're 10 and 12 years old. But they're not going to be little babies. They're not going to be 10 and 12 forever. So what's the message for today? If you're asking yourself, define success. Not just your goals, not just what you want, not just the house on the vision board, not just the car on the vision board. What the hell does it mean to you inside your soul and your heart, if you could sit down and think and say, I'm the most successful human alive, what does that mean? Listen, I went and met my girlfriend's parents before I went to their house. My girlfriend said, listen, my parents are really humble. They're hard workers. They were immigrants, but they've done really well for themselves. But we have a tiny little house, but it's family and it's. I go there and my girlfriend is the oldest of five, and I watched five children and two parents love each other unlike anything I've ever seen in my life. I've never seen a family like this. I've never seen them all lay on the couch and rub each other's backs. They text each other every day. Mom and dad are just immersed. All the kids are sitting on their dad's lap and the kids are, you know, in their 20s and 30s. And I laughed and I said, lisa, your parents are the richest people I have ever met in my life. And I meant it. Yes, they have a humble, gorgeous little house, but they're wealthy beyond belief. The inner peace, the happiness, five amazing children that are all hard workers and good people, support contributing to this earth. All. Most of them with their own businesses, are going to college. Like, incredible. They're the wealthiest family I've probably ever met because in my eyes, they know what success is. Yes, they have all the other things that they have to think about, but that success drove them from immigrants where no one else in my girlfriend's father's family took their life to the next level in America. He did. And I think it's because he knew what success was. He fought for it. And his next generation, his kids, they're all successful massively in so many ways. So that's my message for you today. What does success mean to you? Identify that and then attach that to your goals. Attach that to your dreams. Attach that to your passion. Step up 25, 35% more. Give it your all. Go for it. Don't accept no. And know at the end of the rainbow is your next level of life. I sit here, I'm in the camera. I can see my house behind me. And yes, it's amazing. But I want you to know, it was once just a dream. I was scared to death of what my life would be if I wouldn't go to another level. I was scared to death of all of it. I went after it. I failed. I succeeded. I failed. I succeeded. I failed. The whole world told me no. And I just kept pushing. But when I really knew what success was, when I really identified it, my life, my income, my happiness, my abundance went to the next level. That's my message for today. What's up? What's up?
