What You Should Do Instead of Going To College

Dean Graziosi and Sharon discuss alternatives to college, weighing traditional education against self-education and mentorship. They focus on what might work best for Dean's own children and their futures.
You have kids now, Dean. Are you against the normal education? So are you going to let your kids have the normal education? Let's say getting high school and then go to college or, like, what's your thought about this?
So really great question. Thank you for that, Sharon. And I'm so proud of you on your evolution. I don't want to just skip over it. I felt everything you said, and I can only imagine where your soul was and your heart was, and you would have had every excuse in the world to get small and to curl up on the couch and put a blanket over you and stay there, and you didn't. It's really. It's admirable. And I'm proud of you for being that example for so many people. You're a beacon of light for a lot of people. Yeah. Listen, I want to give my kids the choice. If they want to go the traditional route for the experience, I'm going to let them. But that's not how I'm raising them. If my. My son might want to be a doctor, if he wants to be a doctor, he's gonna have to go to school because he literally. He's 11 years old, and he talks about it all the time, and he's brilliant. My daughter. Probably not. My daughter will follow the path of being mentored by somebody or go. You know. So here's the thing is what I. I'm gonna give you a quick example. My daughter talks about college. Maybe because she plays softball. She might want to play softball in college. And I said, that's fine if you want to do it. But I said, if you're gonna really want to be an entrepreneur, if you're gonna want to do something that fills your soul. My goal. So, for example, she loves interior design. I couldn't change. She's 13. I said, there's two ways to get that, babe. In the old days, you wouldn't consider any other way. You'd go to school and take business classes and art classes, and then interior design, and then you get an internship and you go through that route of four to six years and go to school. I said, or the way your father teaches and the way the world is going, babe. We can search and find several great interior designers, and we can write them the greatest letter in the world. That's going to show them that you're going to be the best employee they've ever had. You want to commit for at least six months to a year. You want to hustle. Except the thing is, you're going to be Free as long as they'll mentor you and you can go to work for that interior designer and you can absorb their knowledge. 10, 20, 30 years of experience you could pick up in six months, stack it on top of your desire and your, you know, your ability to take action. And you can start off where she left off and in six months or a year you could be ready to launch. And I said that's where the world's going. I mean if you think all the way back in history there used to be apprentices, right? It's like if someone, they would teach the craft and the world has exponentially grown so much that. Listen, I'm not just, I'm not knocking colleges except for the fact they didn't keep up. You know, this little device in our hand is making the world grow exponentially. School is the same as it was 50, 100 years ago in the States. You know the only thing that changed the blackboards now to whiteboard. Right. So. Or a digital board. So you know, I'm not going to just. Here's what I hope. I hope the education system steps up. But if it doesn't, the self education is going to put it out of business. It just is because people are deciding. People are saying I can go do it myself. Trial and error stinks. Or I could go back to school for four years. Nothing's guaranteed. Or I could find someone who's already done it and pay them to go faster. The world is choosing option three. What's up? What's up? Hey, before you go, you need to watch these next few videos. They're absolute game changers. Hurry up and click right over here and watch them and I'll see you there.
Sam.
