Your Brain Has A "DELETE" Button (Here's How To Use It)

Dean Graziosi argues you don't have to stay trapped by past mistakes or the stories you tell yourself about them. He walks through how to acknowledge what went wrong, burn those narratives, and rebuild yourself by copying what successful people do and practicing new habits every day.
So here's a question for you. Does your past, past mistakes, past things that you probably maybe regret, does that dictate who you are for the rest of your life? And should you carry that with you?
With all the opportunities that exist today, why haven't you reached your next level of income, life and wealth? In most cases, we've been lied to. We've been told that if you find the right opportunity and you work hard, you can be successful. And that's simply not true. Millionaires, billionaires, and successful people have realized you need the found for wealth, the habits. And that's exactly what you'll be learning on the Millionaire Success Habits podcast. All success starts here.
Hey, Dean Graziosi. Welcome to the Millionaire Success Habits podcast. It's a really simple message today. You know, I have a lot of things in my past I regret. I absolutely do. I. I've. I've done things wrong when it comes to friends. I did things wrong in relationships. I. I did things wrong. Wrong as a parent. I did things wrong as a business partner. Wrong. What's the definition of wrong? Being naive. Making bad decisions, telling yourself bad stories to where you justify mistakes, justify doing things that you look back on and know that weren't right. But here's what I know. So many times in life, people make mistakes. We all do. I mean, so many times everybody makes mistakes. But how we manage those mistakes is the biggest difference between success, happiness, and longevity of failure or longevity of success. You see, I know I went a lot of years thinking I was one person. I thought even in relationships that, you know, maybe I wasn't meant for amazing, deep, loving relationships in my personal life because I was so busy. I was obsessed with being a dad. Obsessed with. Obsessed with my businesses growing. And I was a great provider and a good friend. Friend. And then I just found a time in my life where I told myself the lie of, well, that's it. Maybe, maybe that true love is not there. Maybe. Maybe deep friendship is it. But then there's a time in my life when I knew that was all a lie. That I just told myself that because I wasn't working on it, I wasn't learning, I wasn't growing. And I had to shed all of that story. I had to let that go. That wasn't me anymore. I know there was a time in my life where I said that, you know, since I didn't go to college and I wasn't that smart, I didn't think I had a high iq. I never took an IQ test, but I'm like, you probably don't have a high iq. You don't have a great vocabulary. Maybe there's a certain level of business you can go to and then don't stretch too far. I mean, when my business has got to a millionaire, I'm like, wow, I'm just being honest. I remember thinking, when are they going to find out that I'm not that smart? When are they going to find out I'm a phony? That, like, I just got here because I'm enthusiastic and energetic. And I remember telling myself that lie for a while until that went away. And then my companies went past 10 million a year, and my brand and my company went past 100 million a year. And one year we broke 200 million a year. That was just a lie. And I was thinking a million was my max. I was thinking, would I be a good dad? I didn't come from the best family. I remember being in my 20s, thinking, maybe I'll never be a dad because my family married and divorced nine times, moved a lot, didn't have the greatest foundation. Great people, but not the best. And I remember thinking, maybe I wouldn't be a good dad. It's best to just. No, that was bullshit. I'm the best dad on the planet now. Every dad watching this is a great dad. But I mean, I've read 50 books on being a dad. I've interviewed at least 50 people. I've talked to counselor, week after week for years. Robbing the knowledge from someone who knows the best and then taking that knowledge, turning into wisdom by putting it into practice and decid what works and what doesn't. So today, this Millionaire Success Habits podcast. I think you should add up all the horrible mistakes you made. I think it should be like kindling wood. You should stack it up. You should stack up the mistakes. Being unfaithful in a relationship, being maybe a little untrue, maybe telling a lie that hurts someone. Maybe thinking that you're restricted by where you come from or the partners that you have in your life or the friends you have or restricted by your education or how much money you have. I think you should think about the thinking. Think about the mistakes. And I think you should pile them up like kindling wood. And I think you should douse them in gas and I think you should burn them to the ground. You see, we get to reinvent ourselves any day at any time. We get to decide who we want to be. I know we are somebody different for everybody. You might be somebody different for your boyfriend or girlfriend. Mother, father, husband, wife. You might be different in church than you are out at the club having drinks. You might be different around your co workers or your employer or your employees. And what happens in life, guys, is we become all these different people for others and sometimes we forget who we are. Then we make mistakes and say, okay, I'm just bad at relationships. Okay, I'm just bad at business. Okay, I'm just bad with my money and it's just a cop out. That's bullshit. Literally. Start over, start fresh. Start today. Take the mistakes of the past. Learn from them and burn them. If you were unfaithful in the past, decide today to be faithful for the rest of your life. If you were someone in the past that thought that love would never find you, decide today that that's bullshit. Find people who have mad, passionate relationships and ask them how they did it. If you weren't the best parent in the world, that's who you were yesterday. Decide today declared to be a better parent. If you were somebody who thought you couldn't make money in the past, or made mistake with their money or spe too much or messed up a business, that's who you were in the past. If you were lazy in the past, if you weren't productive in the past, that's who you were. Here's the coolest thing about life. We can reinvent ourselves at any moment. Who is to tell us what we can do? Who is to tell us that we have to live through past mistakes? Listen, if you believe in God and Jesus or whatever it is that you believe in karma, we know that we're forgiven if we truly forgive ourselves, if we truly repent, if we truly feel like we know we screwed up and we learned on it, learned about it. So if you, if God could do that, if karma can do that, if the universe can do that, then it's time to forgive yourself. Today, right now. Write down all your mistakes and your failures. Crumple a paper up and throw it away. Light the paper up on fire and then declare who you're going to be today. Then go out and get the capabilities. Model other people doing it. Search for people who've had massive success. If you drank in the past and you don't want to drink anymore, model someone that doesn't drink. Go to aa, get the help. Work with people who have the capabilities and fricking do this. Life is too short to stop, to not to be jerking around. Life is too short to be wishing I could be somebody new.
