Derek Cole walks through three essential AC maintenance tasks: cleaning the outdoor condenser coil so it can breathe and transfer heat properly, understanding how your AC removes indoor heat and expels it outside, and replacing air filters every three months to keep the system running efficiently.

So be gentle, but you want to clean up any grass clippings, gunk, anything that's built up on the outdoor coil. So again, kind of like number 1, we want it to be able to breathe. And number 2, when you get number 2, we also want that coil to breathe because any dirt and debris permanent acts like an insulator. Heating and air, or yeah, heating and air, or in this case air conditioning, it's all about heat transfer. So in the AC season, you're trying to take the heat that's in the house, remove it, and put it outside where it doesn't matter. So you're not, you're not creating cold air. Everything is a degree of heat. You're taking the heat that's inside and pushing it outside. So that condensing unit is important to have it clean. Number 3, your filters. Air filter check and replacement, something very important. If you've seen any video before, you know I love air filters because it's something simple, something you can do. You can check something you can take care of. So if that filter has not been changed in a while, you might want to do that. Check or change your filter. Check it every month, change it at least every 3 months. If your filter is not getting dirty and your unit is running, that could be a problem. If your filter is getting too dirty that's also a problem. So there's a give and take there with, uh, how dirty and clean you need your filter to be. So check it every month.
