Home and Life Comfort with Derek Cole. Hey there, and welcome back to the Home and Life Comfort podcast. I'm Derek Cole, dinner manager at Simmons One Hour Heating In Air. We're all about making your home feel like. Well, well, feel like home. And today, I want to talk about something simple but real important. Your thermostat. Let me ask you a question. Are you comfortable in your own house? Are you uncomfortable in your own house? Are you uncomfortable because you're scared to lower the thermostat a few degrees? Well, I said it. Yeah, I said it. And if that's you, we need to talk. Look, I've heard it all before. I've heard it so many times. After over 20 years in the industry, in the business, I've heard. I don't want to run my AC too much. I'm trying to save money. I've. I read online that 78 is the magic number for my energy bill. Look, I get it. We're all trying to be smart with our energy usage. But there's a point where being too careful ends up costing you comfort. And that's not okay. Especially when we're talking about your home. The one place you're supposed to relax, kick your feet up, and cool off after a long, hot Carolina summer day. So let me go ahead and give you permission. Bump that thermostat down if you need to. And you're not in a competition with your electric bill, okay? You're not in a contest with your neighbor. You are in your home, and you deserve to be comfortable. There is no prize for who has the best energy bill in the neighborhood. No, you're in your home. You deserve to be comfortable in that home. Now, I'm not saying you need to crank it down to, like, 60 and live in a meat locker, but if 75 isn't cutting it and you feel better at 72, then go for those three degrees could mean the difference between you tossing and turning all night or actually getting some decent sleep. And here's the kicker. If your system is healthy and running right, those few degrees really aren't going to make or break your energy bill, okay? What will hurt your wallet is a struggling system with dug leaks, poor airflow, or bad insulation. If you're constantly uncomfortable, even with the temperature set low, that's not normal. That's a sign something's off. That's when you give us a call and we see what's going on. We've got options to help. We've got smart sensors. We got maintenance plans. We got energy all this, the whole nine yards. We'll check your system, give you the truth. It's up to you. No fluff, no pressure. Just honest help to make sure your system is doing what it's supposed to. So here's your reminder for the week. Set that thermostat for you. Set that thermostat for you. Not for the Internet. Not for Energy Star. Not for the epa. Not for your wallet. For you. Because your comfort is worth it. Thanks for listening today. If you found this helpful, do me a favor. Share it with someone who's always messing with that thermostat or someone who's sweating it out when they don't have to.
