The excerpt contains a spoken tip from SPEAKER A explaining home thermal lag: if a house has been at 78°F all day it will be hard to reach 75°F quickly, so only adjust the thermostat by one or two degrees when you get home to balance comfort and efficiency.
But the problem is, you know, you get home at 5:00 or 5:30, and everybody tries to bring it down to the temperature they want. Well, it's been sitting all day at 78 degrees. It's going to be hard for it to get to 75. So that's why, you know, I wouldn't sit in more than probably one or two degrees off of what you want, just because it's going to be hard for that to compensate for what you're wanting when you get home, if that makes sense. Because everything in the home. So you say your temperature is 78, you come home at 5 o', clock, you want to be 75.
