ANOTHER DAY | Derek 05

Derek and coworkers discuss binding phone contracts versus written agreements, a service tax increase to $9.96 starting January 1, and a growing maintenance backlog. They joke about Vegas trips and a money-rain gun, then wrap up with Scott organizing receipts for expense categorization.

Breakfast: 2 protein bars, 2 waters. Crazy. Good morning, good morning. Happy Tuesday after Christmas. Getting some gas up here before I go to my meeting, and then it's gonna be a good day. It's nice and dreary and rainy and foggy, so let's go. Perception is reality. It doesn't matter what you got on a piece of paper. The perception is that we're taking care of this customer. And now we own—
perfect example. It don't matter what you got on paper. We just left court. What did a man tell us? We said something to that man on the phone which was a binding contract. It don't matter what you got on paper. You said something on the phone which was a binding contract. We can't get out of it no matter what we had written down. It don't matter that he defaulted on— we had a binding contract.
So I guess tomorrow, man, if I talk to service techs, we're just going to tell them about the taxes and the locals. And you know, for starting next week, January 1st, it's $9.96 plus tax.
I never have a problem talking to them, can you?
And, uh, we need to talk to the call center too. Um, also, can you give a peek on how to build that?
We need to make the decision. I know we're just coming off a holiday, we're going to take Monday off.
I said we take Monday off but not Friday.
No, no, no, no, I agree with that.
Yeah, um, but I just needed to know if we're going to take— we're going to take Monday off.
Yeah, is that what you think?
I would think so.
Yeah, I mean, I would think Monday, not Friday.
Today is Sunday, but I would take Monday, not Friday.
Not both of them again.
No, no, not both of them again.
And the—
but while we're sitting here talking about that, I might want to take Friday off as possible.
We're so far behind on maintenances.
No, you can't give me one in no more. Hold on, you better give it to that man right— you can't give me one in no more. You can't give me that no more. You can't give me that no more. Give it to him.
You can't give me—
no coveralls?
No.
What you get?
I give you permission to ride him up.
No, no, no, no, no.
I want—
I'm not signing it.
Here you go. Sign.
Respect my authority.
Yes, sir.
No problem.
How you doing?
I told Scotty he should go to Vegas with us.
He said I'm scared to. Let's see if he wants to go with us. Hey, Scott. Scott, you want to go to Vegas with me and Dirk? Can't afford it. Why not?
Apparently you fools are like breaking bands at the strip club.
Got to make it rain every night.
Why you going to get a band if you don't make it rain?
I ain't never even touched a band. Y'all over there busting them.
We, we even, we even found something online that we ain't got to do it manually anymore. We found a gun that you can make it rain with. We stack money and pull the trigger and it just blows money everywhere. So not only are we wasting money making it rain, we bought the gun to do it with.
We buying bottles of champagne, popping bottles.
Pretty damn talented.
this is what happens when your brother is the cfo.
Derek.
We have found so many ways to spend money. He's had to headlines over.
Somewhere in here.
You see right here where this has been whited out? Something's going on right here.
You wasn't supposed to see that.
I can't come up with it.
He's adding line items over here to try to name it different things.
I'm trying to cut out that number, Nick.
I can't.
I'm pretty sure that's why. That thing right there, whatever that is.
Hey guys, a pretty mellow episode today. Just, uh, everyday man, just working. Had a meeting this morning, I came back here, met with Skip for, for a while, talking about various things. And then, uh, Scott, my brother, is going through, uh, all my receipts and trying to properly categorize them. So, uh, just another day.
