Derek Cole renames his vlog to Car Confessions since he films while driving. He shares a story about a customer who paid $600 in rolls of quarters, warns about counting money and spotting counterfeits, and complains that PDFs keep opening in Internet Explorer instead of Adobe.

I think I'll rename this Car Confessions because I seem to keep videoing when I'm driving. But this morning I have a 2-hour drive to Duke for an MRI. Hey guys, Derek Cole here. The main problem we see any season is dirt. Good morning guys, good morning. I hope you have a great Tuesday and, uh, go out there and get them.
I know, but I wish you'd tell me too. I love it, it's a fever. I can't help but wonder before I was watered by the rain.
Customer just paid him $600 in rolls of quarters.
He count them?
He got a picture of it.
He Make sure you count them. Uh, well, who knows, like counterfeit 20s.
Yeah.
Why did it take being there for it to be found? Because there's like— I don't know, you know what I mean?
No, because it was going into the heat side this time and it was directly looking at air conditioning. Maybe it was an intermittent problem that was going in air conditioning mode when it was there and Now we are looking for each.
I wish there was a way to get PDFs to open up somewhere other than in freaking Internet Explorer where I can't do a search. I mean, what happened to the old Adobe plugin?
You can tell it to open with Adobe. Where?
Go back to it where the file is.
No, but it's on the web, so I gotta save it or I gotta, you know.
Yeah, download it.
That's what I'm saying. But it used to be I could do it in the then the web program and do a search, find, and stuff like that.
So, um, it's the best time to do it because I'm just driving and watching and thinking. Um, but I saw a commercial this morning on TV. The news was in the background and the TV commercial came on. It was for a home builder. He said, from so-and-so homes, we want to wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. So I was thinking, yes, that's pretty good, uh, pretty good little ad. I mean, it's on TV. Uh, first of all, TV is probably overpriced, uh, in my opinion anyway. It's overpriced for the attention it gets. But, um, then he followed that up with, come see us, we have our new homes as low as $59,900. I was like, oh, Goodness, he ruined it. He ruined the first message with the second message. So I think people are confused. There is a difference between marketing and branding, whereas in my opinion, the first ad would have been a good branding ad. I mean, that ad just focused on happy holidays, thank you for your business, thank you for are coming out. Uh, our family thanks you. Merry Christmas. I mean, that should have been that. It shouldn't be— it shouldn't have been followed up by a, um, a marketing piece on, you know, I can imagine someone sitting at home this morning or going to work and seeing that and thinking, hey, I was looking for a $60,000 house. I'm glad I saw that ad. Um, It needs to be about value. It needs to be about personal touch. It needs to— I mean, I would— I'm not in the home selling business, but I would, I would totally flip it on its head. Now I would talk about, uh, and this goes to any business really, what, what's the most common problem you have or you see your customer make. I mean, all of our tips on heating and air come from problems. So it comes from what are people doing, uh, by accident, by mistake, and what is the right thing to do. So it's always a value give. And, uh, we have ads out there for, you know, selling certain things, and you know, there's a time and a place for that, but those messages never get crossed, crossed up. So just my thought. I mean, the guy had a good beginning of an ad about Merry Christmas and how thankful he is, but then to me, he just ruined it with, you know, that ad right behind behind it about the sale. So I mean, a home builder, I mean, what are— what can you talk about? I don't know, the 3 biggest mistakes first-time homeowners make. I don't know, the 7— the top 7 things you should ask your builder. Top 10 things you can look look for in a new home? Something, something of value that the average person, the average consumer doesn't know about, but then they can go and be educated on it by you. And then when they make that purchase, they can be better for it. And hopefully, obviously the goal is for them to purchase with you, but, but deal is, it's about you give. And there's a time and a place for offers and for transactional business. It's just my opinion. I don't think those two should be mixing in together. I mean, on the radio I'm hearing, you know, happy holiday ads brought to you by blah blah blah, and that's it. That's cool. That's just happy holidays. 'Thank you for your business. Thank you for a great year.' It's just thanking the customer. It's not followed up with, 'By the way, call us today and get our blah blah blah blah blah.' So just a few thoughts I had on that. I just heard it this morning. I was thinking, 'Yeah, that's pretty good,' and then boom, he ruined it with the ad. Just a little branding tip, things that I think about and we think about, we do. It's much more value give and then you can ask in a different setting, but it's, um, you want the customer's attention and if you're you're just advertising like everyone else, you're just pushing yourself out there, it's not gonna get the response you're, you're looking for. So you got to be different. Busy day here at Duke. I've been to my appointment, which is across the street, but it's a pavilion where she connect to it. So my apartment's over there, parked back there, but I'm not crossing the street. I'm going this way. They always get excited with my fat veins.
