Clean Your AC Coils: Inside vs. Outside Cleaning #shorts

Derek Cole shows why cleaning AC coils from the inside matters, especially for units with two fin rows. Exterior cleaning alone misses the inner fins, and debris clogs the condensate pan's drainage holes, sometimes trapping dead frogs and leaves that block water flow.
One of those items I don't see a whole lot of people talking about or showing people how to know whether or not they've got 1 or 2 rows of coils. All right, so my AC unit is a perfect example of why you want to clean it from the inside.
That's why it's 2 coils. You see those 2 different tracks right there? Outside, inside.
But as you can see, I've got coils connected here and then I've got 2 rows of fins. So if I was to just clean this from the outside, This inner row of fins and coils would not receive a whole lot of the cleaner, and therefore it wouldn't get as clean as it would need to be. And as you can see, this is the case all the way. One of those items I don't see a whole lot of people talking about or showing people how to know whether or not they've got 1 or 2 rows of coils. Lid off and cleaning it from the inside is you're able to clean out anything that is down in the pan of the AC unit. Now if your AC unit is one that sits underneath of a tree, for instance, then the pan of your AC unit is probably going to be a whole lot fuller than what mine is. And if we look down here at the bottom, if you see these little holes or what look kind of like tunnels that you drive through, these are holes for draining. And if this gets too full, then obviously those can get plugged up and your AC unit would not be able to drain out as efficiently as it should. So we always want to make sure that these are clear of debris. So a great way to go about cleaning this is to get a Shop-Vac or a vacuum cleaner that you're able to put a hose down into the bottom of the AC unit and just suck everything out. All of the debris, leaves, any dead insects. And in my case, every once in a while I find some dead frogs, unfortunately, down in the bottom of the pan. All right, so now we got that all vacuumed out and looking good. All of the drainage holes have been unplugged. So now let's move on to the next step of cleaning this.
