Derek Cole explains how a furnace flame sensor works. Located at the end of the heat exchanger, it detects flame and tells the control board to keep the gas valve open. Without this signal, the furnace shuts down.
Once the flames start and the furnace is burning, we have what is called a flame sensor. It's always located at the last point of the heat exchange, so where the gas comes in and it makes ensure that all the fluid point to the heat exchange, have flame burning to all the ports. The flame sensor detect the flame. Once it detects the flame, it tells the control board, okay, yes, I have flame. So you can keep the valve open, you can keep the, the process going, and the process is pretty much continued at that point.
