Frost on your heat pump. Is that normal frost? Yes. Lack of ice? No. Your heat pump is trying to get heat out of the air, so it's going to frost over those outdoor coals when it's really cold outside. And it's going to activate what's called the defrost cycle, which reverses the refrigerant and and blows AC in the house. Your heat strips keep you warm so you really don't feel it. But if you look outside, you'll see steam rising from the outdoor unit of burning off the frost, which is normal. Now, block of ice, that is a problem. You don't want a block of ice. You want to call a pro. If you have a block of ice, it's probably a default problem. Could be refrigerant problem, could be an airflow problem. Either way, you need to call pro. So frost, normal block of ice, not normal. This week I'm working on an article and a podcast to go into deeper details. If you want me to send that to you, the link will be in the comments, or you could send a message.
