Most homes use one duct size throughout, but restaurants like Zaxby's taper their ducts as they branch out. Proper sizing requires engineering calculations, but it transforms airflow and comfort in ways single-size ducts can't match.

Is it sized properly? Is it run properly? A lot of duct systems we go to, it is one trunk line, one size, all the way down the length of the home, which is the problem. So if you've ever been to a Zaxby's or Red Robin, look up, the duct system is exposed. So what you'll see is a duct system that is reducing as it goes down the restaurant. That is a properly sized duct system. That's the engineered drawing of the duct system. That same behavior needs to happen in the home and doesn't happen a lot. The main reason is it takes engineering, it takes comfort sizing to know what needs to be done in that home.
