A short YouTube clip by Derek Cole answering whether to turn off HVAC systems in extreme cold. The speaker advises not to turn systems off—narrow/modern HVAC systems are designed for extreme temperatures—and recommends setting the thermostat to a comfortable temperature so the unit can operate normally.
Narrow systems are designed to operate in extreme weather. I've gotten the comment before. Hey, it feels like my unit is working hard. Should I turn my unit off? Because it's pretty cold outside and I don't want it to overwork. No, just operate the system the way you operate the system. The system is made for extreme temperatures, so don't worry about running the unit. Set the thermostat to a temperature you're comfortable at. The unit will do its job.
