A short YouTube video by Derek Cole advising homeowners that many modern thermostats include lock codes to prevent others (e.g., children or spouses) from changing the temperature, and that Wi‑Fi-enabled thermostats let owners remotely adjust settings from a phone or tablet when away—helping maintain desired setpoints and reduce energy bills.
Have you battled with your family over the thermostat? A lot of the newer thermostats actually have lock codes built into the software, so you can actually lock out the kids or spouse from changing the thermostat temperature and you can keep it where you want it. So they can go up, they can go down. It's never going to change. Even better is a WI FI thermostat, so you can lock them out, but when you're not home, you can get your phone to your tablet and actually play with the temperature yourself and really make a difference in your energy bill because you have 24 7.
