Purpose of Drain Pan Treatment for HVAC System

In this instructional video, Derek Cole explains how a drain pan treatment works in HVAC systems. The treatment, an EPA‑registered chemical, is placed in the drain pan and activates when water contacts it. Once activated, it eliminates odors and bacteria present in standing water and breaks down biological buildup so the water can flow freely through the drain line. This helps prevent the common summertime issue of clogged drain lines caused by debris from the coil, which can lead to pan overflow and water damage. By keeping the water clean and reducing bacterial growth, the treatment both controls smells and minimizes the risk of drain line clogs, making HVAC maintenance easier and more reliable.
