PUT IN THE WORK | Derek 20

Derek Cole documents a day packed with four meetings across Pinehurst while managing his MS medication, Gilenya, which costs $180 per pill. He brings donuts to FastMed staff as thanks and repeats his core message: there's no shortcut to success, only the work itself.

I mean, if you want to win, you just got to put in the time. Hey guys, Derek Cole here. The main problem we see any season is dirt. All right, back on the grind. Um, took my second dose of Gilenya a little while ago, and, uh, see that? Pretty cool. And I think I'm really nervous about the fact that each pill is $180. And I'm in the care of it, so good luck.
See, I'm so optimistic, boy, I'm that college daydreamer, just trying to make enough to see myself driving a Beamer and see some spitting verses that are hotter than a fever. All my music tends to be on the tight end like a receiver. Hold up, I'm just trying to pass my classes, but doing that and making music always seems to clash. It's a struggle for my passions, especially when all the artists—
That's right, that was not a mistake, 100%. $180 per pill per day. So they shipped me in a 30-day supply. Praise God, thank God I have— Jelenia has a support program for people who are not rich like me. It helps pay for this medication. So thankfully, thank God for that. Otherwise it would be not even reachable for me to do it. But yeah, that's right. $180 per pill. That's right. So I told them when I go on a plane, obviously these pills will be with me on the plane. Otherwise, I'll stick in my luggage and they'll lose my luggage. I'll be like, you guys owe me $5,000. I had a 30-day supply of medication in there. You lost my bag. So no, they're going to stay with me.
Out here all competing hard to reach the top the fastest. See, I could be the best, but being the best doesn't define success. Success is working hard and playing less, so I'm never getting rest. Cause diamonds will only become diamonds after undergoing pressure and some stress. See, I could have the talent, but that can turn to self-entitlement and big ego so easily if I allow it. So help keep me grounded, but keep me lifted, cause a lot is on my shoulders and I need your help to lift it.
So I'm carrying First meeting of the day. It's gonna be a long day. Might as well start here at the usual spot with some good friends, good businesses.
Yeah, I can't.
It's destiny. First of all, I don't think people in general say thank you enough. So I went down to Granny's Donuts down the road, bought a dozen donuts, $10. I'm gonna take them over here to FastMed where I spent like 7 hours yesterday and they took care of me. So just a small little thank you gift, even though yes, they got paid to do it and all that stuff and they're doing their job, but you know, just a little gesture like that can brighten someone's day. See how it goes. I think it went well. You know what, the older you get, the more you like to give, so I think that was good. Usually I don't broadcast what I do, but I wanted to give you guys an example of how you can give to people. I mean, the smile on that lady's face when I brought those donuts in you know, probably made, uh, her day and probably made the nurses, you know, back there their days as well. So, um, or not. I mean, I don't know. I mean, I'm not sitting there watching them, but, um, you know, do what you can do when you can do it. And, you know, something like $10 goes a long way. Leaving. Got some work done, so that was good. Headed to the networking lunch meeting, so got some work done. Also listened to two ladies talk about weight loss and weight loss secrets, so that was fascinating. I learned a little bit, so I'm going to apply that to my life. Lunch meeting done. It's like 2 hours. On to the office and the next meeting. Headed back to Banhurst. Next meeting. Yo!
So baby, please tell me, tell me you feel, you feel the same.
It's 5 o'clock at the next meeting. Look guys, there is no silver bullet, there is no magic weapon. It just takes work. I mean, 4 meetings today, 3 of them here in Pinehurst. I mean, if you want to win, you just gotta put in the time. You have to put in the time, put in the work, keep grinding, keep doing what you need to do to grow the business. I mean, there is no secret button formula. It's just good old-fashioned work.
So baby, please tell me, tell me you feel, you feel the same.
