SHORT DAY | Derek 21

Derek Cole shares a worship song about grace and redemption, then walks through a day of meetings and work while fighting sinus issues. He stresses the importance of listening to teammates and customers without planning your response, and over-communicating to avoid confusion.

crazy to me. The red from Amazing Grace. Somehow you still love me, love you. So love me, a work in progress and I'm far from finished. You made a way for me, you gave my life a new beginning when I thought that it was ending. Yeah, this song I play when there's turbulence shaking on the plane. Tell my wife that I'm gonna be okay. If God is for me, I won't be afraid. I go wherever, I don't need a name. My past is gone, I don't see the shame. Yeah, love is one, I can't see the pain. They don't know how I could be this way. Yeah, yeah, looking at my life, I don't even know how we made it this far. The beautiful actions, you broke down a wall to my place, in my place he was scarred. Yeah, yeah, this is a song for a new generation, the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords, his name is Jesus.
First meeting, silences are killing me. See my face, hear my voice, not feeling great, but we got work to do. Well, my allergies really have me feeling feeling bad, stopped up, sound weird, eyes running, nose running. But, uh, we're gonna push forward here the rest of the day. Finished my first meeting, just got back to the shop here. Got a few 1-hour vans, that's good to see. And on to the next meeting. So yeah. Home, 12:40, get some rest, hopefully recover from this sinus allergy problem. Yeah, I finally got to throw in the towel on it, but I can work from my laptop and from my phone. On what I need to get done, but sometimes you gotta, you gotta rest or recover, and this is apparently one of those times. So don't feel bad about it. You gotta do what you gotta do to feel better. Before I sign off at the house, in my meeting today and another meeting I was in, I was sort of thinking And we have the problem in our company, it's communication. I mean, there's not enough communication happening. And then the thing I say a lot, especially in groups, is when someone talks, the next person is thinking about what they want to say versus listening to that person. And it's something I caught myself doing, but you really start to learn and start to know more about the people or the situation when you start listening instead of waiting on your turn to talk. So I guess my big takeaway today is something I've been talking to our team about, which is communication, communication. Over-communicate, over-communicate with the customer, over-communicate about the part or about the service or about The problem, and people get upset when their expectations aren't met. So if you communicate the expectations, then they're not gonna be upset. And something we're working on, but it's something I'm working on personally, and hopefully you are as well, is, you know, when the person is talking, you're actually listening versus waiting on your turn to talk. So That's it. As you can see, I'm pretty tired. The words are starting to slur, come together. So just a mess. It's okay. Oh, I can see it now. Oh, I can see the love in your eyes.
Laying yourself down, raising up the broken to life.
