In this episode of The Comfort Experts, host Derek Cole and technician Jacob showcase a duct sealing machine using a simulated duct system. After introducing the Comfort Experts brand and its focus on HVAC comfort, they walk viewers through the setup: a generator-powered duct box, a computer that measures airflow (CFM) and controls the sealing process. The machine performs a pre‑test, then applies sealant to seal drilled holes, oversized cuts, joints, and seams. Within 8‑10 minutes, all holes are fully sealed, with no air leakage observed, demonstrating the machine’s speed and effectiveness. The segment emphasizes the importance of proper duct sealing for home comfort and promotes the Comfort Experts’ services.

Hey, this is Derek Cole with The Comfort Experts, and today we have built a box to simulate and to show you duct sealing. So going out here, we got the whole thing set up. Come on out, we'll show you what's going on. All right, so we got it plugged into the generator and we got it all set up. We have the little duct system here. We have our technician Jacob working on the computer. This right here is actually the duct sealing machine, and the computer is going to read CFM, air loss. He's going to control it all from here. All right, so we simulated basically a duct system right here. So he's going to tie in to it from here, seal it from the machine, and we're going to seal the little holes on top. You see here, holes on the side, and you're actually going to see the sealing process happen from start to finish. So I mean, this is an ordinary duct system. I mean, they got joints and grooves and screws, and all this needs to be sealed. So we're going to seal it from the outside, and we're also going to seal up this air seal a little bit. All right, we're going to start the sealing. The machine has started, and we have the machine going, and it's doing a pre-test right now. And if you have a, uh, we got air coming out of this hole. You can't really see it. Yeah, we'll put some over this hole so you can see the actual— the air blowing through it, which is the blow in your duct system. Yeah, uh, watch this. Uh-oh, that's the mirror lost. All right, you ready to go?
Yep.
All right, so we're fixing to shut down, but he is first cleaning the excess glue out of the machine.
He's done the face—
the duct work and all.
And after a total elapsed time of gluing time of about 8 to 10 minutes, as you can see, every hole that we have drilled in this, in this duct system is completely sealed. You can actually see the cement coming through the line. The actual Aerosil label is now 100% sealed. The joints and the seams that Derrick pointed out earlier, if you look closely, you can see see that it is— they are completely sealed. I have no air coming out of any hole on this system. The wondrous thing that I wanted all of y'all to see is we actually cut oversized holes in our duct here. If you look, this sealant actually tried to glue and seal these giant holes that we cut in this duct system. We have completely sealed this system in less than 10 minutes.
