Hey, this is Derek Cole along with William Skipper, and welcome to this episode of The Comfort Experts. And today again, we are talking about insulation, but this time we are going to back it up with some hard numbers.
Yeah, Derek, we've talked about insulation many shows, um, importance of insulation, what it can do.
And by the way, if you haven't gotten it yet, it's important.
Yeah, it just— importance of what it can do on your energy bill, it's, it's kind of hard to explain. I guess that's why we had to do it over and over and over. People just don't understand or just not listening. But if, if you— if your current insulation is less than R-30, which is 11 inches of fiberglass or rockwool and 8 inches of cellulose, you could probably benefit from adding insulation. It doesn't cost a lot. A lot of people say insulating my home, insulating my home, that cost is astronomical. It is not. The cost of adding blown-in insulation in your attic is very low cost, and what you can benefit from in the long run far outweighs what the upfront cost is. Adding insulation to your attic, if you just— just say you save 5% on your utility bill, that is a big savings. 5%, that's $20 to $70 per year just by the insulation that you added, added to your home.
Yeah, the insulation, I mean, it's not going anywhere once it's there. It's not like you have to get more of it because it went somewhere.
That's right. Unless you got somebody that comes in and takes insulation out or stomps it flat and it loses its R-factor, you don't have to worry about it. Blow it in, leave it, let it go. It does so much for your home on your energy usage. It's, it's just It amazes me how many people don't do it.
Yeah, because it's one of those items that saves you a lot of money and it's virtually no maintenance whatsoever. So you set it and you forget it, just like the man on TV, right?
That's right.
