In this episode of The Comfort Experts, hosts Derek Cole and William Skipper discuss why a homeowner’s heating or air‑conditioning unit may fail to turn on and outline immediate steps to diagnose the problem. They emphasize the importance of home comfort and reliable service, then focus on two primary causes: thermostat settings and electrical power. Viewers are instructed to verify that the thermostat is set to the correct mode (ON or COOL) and that the unit’s breaker is switched on and not tripped. The hosts warn that a tripped breaker can indicate a serious electrical fault, creating safety hazards that require professional attention. They advise callers to contact The Comfort Experts if they encounter breaker issues or suspect electrical problems, underscoring the need for expert intervention to avoid dangerous situations.

Hey, this is Derrick Cole with The Comfort Experts along with William Skipper of The Comfort Experts, and we are coming to you today to talk about some common tips and problems that we see. But people call us and say, hey, my unit's not turning on. What do I do? What can they do, William?
Well, the first thing is to make sure your thermostat is set to the on position or the cool position to make sure that it is ready to come on. That's one of the biggest issues that we find— thermostats. We talked about it in a previous show. Make sure it's set to the right setting. Also, make sure that you check your breaker to make sure that your breaker's on.
Yes, you do need power to operate your heating or air conditioning unit.
That is correct. Without that, you will not have air conditioning no matter what you try.
That's right. And the breakers, you mentioned the breaker, it could trip, and this is a safety hazard. So if your breaker is tripping, you do need to give us a call because it could be a serious problem. It could be happening, right?
That's right. Now you could have— you could be having some electrical issues in that unit that could create some safety issues in the house, and we certainly don't want that to happen.
Again, we are here to help you, but we don't want you to waste money when it's something that can be done and checked by you before you give us a call. But if you need us, call us 910-534-4462, or you can find us on our aircarolinas.com. I'm Derek M. Cole. This is William J. Skipper. We are the Comfort Experts.
