The Comfort Experts - Passive Cooling

Derek Cole and William Skipper explain three ways to cut cooling costs: run ceiling fans to circulate air, close blinds during hot months to block heat, and reduce heat entering your home. These steps ease the load on your AC system and lower energy bills.
Hey, this is Derrick Cole along with William Skipper, and we are The Comfort Experts. And today we're talking about saving you energy in your home, and one way to do that is passive cooling. So William, what are some passive cooling ideas they have in their home where they take some of that load off the air conditioner?
Well, a few things are ceiling fans, window blinds, and curtains. With ceiling fans, you can turn the ceiling fan on in a room and just stirring the air would make it feel cooler to you.— you won't have to adjust the thermostat as much. Your window drapes, your old curtains and blinds, what they can do is you can close those in these summertime months and it can help deflect and redirect some of that outside summertime heat to the outside and prevent it from coming in and causing your unit to have to run so hard.
Right. So all of that is taking the heat load off of the house so your air conditioner won't have to work as hard. So if you need more information, go to 1hourair@carolinas.com. And for William Skipper, I'm Derek Cole. Thanks for watching.
