The Comfort Experts - Save on Cooling Costs

Derek Cole and William Skipper explain how keeping exterior doors closed cuts cooling costs. Even brief openings let heat and humidity in, forcing your AC to work longer. Shutting doors after entering or exiting noticeably lowers your bills.

Hey, Derek Cole and William Skipper, welcome to the show. We're talking about lowering your cooling bills, and a good tip to do that is shut the door.
That's right. People go outside to check the mail, pull the door in behind you. Let the pet outside, pull the door in behind you. Those brief few seconds that you leave that door open allows a tremendous amount of heat to get in your home, which is going to cause your unit to run longer to try to dehumidify and cool that off. So it doesn't take long just to pull the door behind you.
Yeah, I'm talking too about those front doors with the glass screen door and then leave the second door open.
That's right. Well, even with the glass door, if you leave the main door open, that glass radiates heat through. Yeah. And if you pull that second door too, then you're going to prevent that from happening as well.
So close the door. You get a 90, 95-degree day, you're not helping the situation. No, not at all. In the house. So again, close the door. Another great cooling tip.
