The Comfort Experts - Stop Adding Heat

Derek Cole and William Skipper explain how to cut summer energy use by keeping heat out of your home. Grill outside instead of using your oven, hang laundry to dry in the sun, and skip the clothes dryer. Less heat inside means your AC works less hard.
Hey, this is Derrick Cole along with William Skipper, and we are the comfort experts giving you tips today on how to save energy this summer. And today we're talking about appliances. William, how can they save energy with their appliances?
Well, the best way to save your energy with your appliances this time of year is not to use them. Let's take that summertime heat and use it to our benefit. One way is let's fire the grill up. Let's cook outside. Let's don't stay in the kitchen and let that stove produce heat and and make that unit run a lot harder than it should. The second is the clothes dryer. Let's take those clothes and hang them on a line outside. Use that summertime heat to help dry them. Everybody knows that you hang clothes on a line, they smell a lot fresher than they do coming out of a dryer. So let's take that summertime heat and let's use it to our benefit.
Right, so stop adding heat to your home. I mean, ovens, ranges, grill outside if possible. Anything you can do to take the load off of that air conditioner because it's already working hard, right?
