In this video, Derek Cole stands in the back of his HVAC shop surrounded by discarded indoor blower wheels and motors to demonstrate the extent of dust and debris that can accumulate inside HVAC components. He and a colleague point out the heavy buildup on the fins and motor housing, explaining that this material is part of the air circulating throughout a home and adds to the roughly 72 trillion particles that enter a residence daily. The visual inspection serves as a concrete example of how indoor air can become contaminated by the very system meant to move it. Derek then introduces the “Healthy Home Challenge,” encouraging viewers to learn about indoor air‑quality solutions such as high‑efficiency air filters, air cleaners, and UV lights, offering free five‑day access to the program.
Hey, what's up everybody? Uh, Derek Cole here. I'm back here in the back of our shop, which is where we pile in the old systems, uh, when they get replaced. And look at all the buildup, all the dust, dirt, and to see how it clogs up these fins. And then same way with the motor. I mean, this motor had to work hard. Look at all the dirt and the buildup around it so it can breathe and, and, and move this blower wheel, which moves the air in your home. So something to, uh, to always look at.
Yeah, I did that because I wanted to show you a real situation. And, you know, as we look at these blower wheels and blower motors, uh, across the, across the field here, I mean, it's, it's a very similar story as to what's going on with the buildup and, and things All this stuff is in your air. It's coming inside your home. So not only are you battling the 72 trillion particles that come in your home every day, but you're battling this stuff as well, which is, uh, already there and just circulating in your home all day long when the unit comes on.
