According to Isaiah, who prophesied 700 years before Christ was born, the Lord Jesus was so brutally beaten that he was unrecognizable. So by the time he gets to the cross, his face is marred, his body is marred. There was no beauty in him. This is not a little weapon with a stick. The Lord was so brutally beaten before the cross that when people looked at him, they could not recognize Him. His flesh was torn and his face was mutilated. He did that for your sins and for mine. Just want to remind you what your sins cost him. Since we love it so much, that's why we should not enjoy sin, we should hate it. It should make us cry, and every time we stumble into it, we should weep and we should be grieved on the inside because we know what it cost our Lord to pay for it. Our thoughts, our actions and our deeds came at a high price.
