Short instructional transcript (YouTube video) explaining three primary reasons a thermostat may fail to reach the set temperature: problems with the HVAC unit (e.g., heat strips), the home's building envelope, or the duct system. The speaker frames troubleshooting around three interdependent aspects to check when diagnosing comfort issues.
Why is my thermostat not getting temperature? It could be a couple things. It could be the heat strips, it could be the duct system, could be the house. I tell our team all the time, you got three aspects to every situation. When you go to a house, you got the unit, you have the house, you have the duct system. If one of the three are off, you're not going to be comfortable. If there's a problem at the house holding heat in, you're not going to be comfortable. If there's a problem with the duct system getting the air to where it needs to go, you're not going to be comfortable. If there's a problem with that unit not operating correctly, you're not going to be comfortable.
