Descript Templates

Learn how Descript Templates save your visual and audio styles so you can apply them to new projects in one click. The tutorial shows applying pre-made templates like Webcam Circle, then walks through creating your own template with animations and keyframes.
Descript has a template function that allows us to save certain styles and apply it with the click of a button. This can be zooms, it can be audio settings, it can be green screen, it can be anything you want. It can be titles, styles of captions, and so on. So for example, these videos that I'm making, you can see that I have the green screen applied. I don't have a background. And the way that I do that, here's what it normally looks like with my background of the room that I'm recording in. All I do is I go to my templates button at the top right. I have something called Webcam Circle. I click it and it applies the green screen effect. It makes it a little bit bigger and it applies the eye contact feature all in one click. I can also apply a zoom. I just called them screen record, zoom, screen record, zoom out, et cetera. So if I click it and you'll notice my background is back because I haven't applied it in that particular template. But here's how it looks. If I, if I click Play, you can automatically add captions. It go, it zooms in just like that. And I can go ahead and apply the webcam circle on top of it. So they both, you can automatically. They're both, in effect, you can do all sorts of cool stuff like that with templates. To create a template, you go to your projects view. There's a templates button on the left. You'll click it. I have a whole bunch of different ones here for different clients. You hit new template and it looks exactly like a project, which is what makes this a little bit confusing. But let's just call this template example and we can put anything we want in here. I suggest, let's say you want to make a zoom one. You can just put in a video as a filler, just a stock video. And then what you would do is apply the animation that you want. So if we're doing a zoom in, we can do a custom animation. We can apply what our last keyframe is gonna look like just like that. And let's make it about a 2 second zoom. So let's start from the beginning and let's see how it looks. And then you would publish this template. We'll call it Zoom. You can save it to your drive, you can share it publicly, or you can just make it private, meaning only you have access to it. You hit publish template and once we got the check mark up in this top left, we can now apply this to one of our projects.
