A short tutorial demonstrating how to add built-in music tracks and sound effects within Descript. Shows selecting a scene/playhead, browsing or searching the Music and Sound Effects library, previewing tracks, adding them to the project, and adjusting audio levels (decibels) on the layer to blend with spoken content.
To add music or sound effects using Descript's built in library of sounds, what you need to do is first select the scene. Put your playhead in the scene where you want that music to go. And then down here at the bottom is the music icon where we're going to find all our music. And if you don't see it, there might be three dots that say more and it's just because your window's too small. But music is the bottom icon there. And right here you have your music section. And below that is your sound effects. You can expand these by clicking show all. Or if you already have something in mind, something specific could be a genre or sound effect. You can just type that in there in that search bar. But let's start with some music. You can preview it by clicking that play button and you can add it with this plus button. So I'm going to go ahead and do that and you can see how long it is. It says right there, 2:39. That's the length of that particular track. I'm going to hit add to project. Importing audio. It's gonna take just a second here. And so you can see that it added it right at my playhead. This whole video is less than the length of that track. So it, it goes as far as the end of my project, but it'll by default put in the whole thing. So that's my music next if I wanna add a sound effect. So let's say like right here where I say buckle up, I can go into sound effects and let me do a search for buckle, see what we can find. Seat belt buckle, that'll work. So with my cursor right there on the word buckle, I'm just gonna hit this plus button and there it is. Got added right at my playhead. And now it's gonna have that little sound effect right when I use the word buckle. Now the last thing I would do with these, and there's a lot of different ways to do this, to blend the audio in so that it sounds natural and it's not too loud or too abrupt. But the easiest way is to go to layer with that layer selected. So in this case the music layer. And you can change the audio level right there. You can type something in or you can click and drag left and right to change the decibel level. And you can see that the sound waves are changing in size as I change the volume level and just dial it in until it sounds natural with the spoken word in your content, if you like this one Be sure to watch this video next.
