How to Make Your Webcam A Circle in Descript

Three ways to record in Descript, with the app-top method giving you separate layers for your webcam and screen. You can then crop, resize, and turn your webcam into a circle using presets or manual adjustments.
Here's how to make your webcam a circle when you're recording with descript. There's two ways to start a quick recording in descript, and one way is to do it inside of a video project and start a project that way. Or click this quick recording button. Or actually, sorry, there's three ways. The other one is here at the top of your computer with this descript button here. And this is the one I'm going to show you. You can see here. Now, my. My video popped up here and I show you this one because this one gives you the most control. If you start it from inside of a project, you're not going to have the ability to resize the box like this, which I can do just by clicking the corners and dragging. Or I can resize it here. Where's the. There it is, the white button. And it. It resizes it proportionally, but it's still just a square. So if I hit record and edit, it's going to ask me for the part of the screen I want to record. So let's say I record here. I hit start recording, and now I'm going, this is my recording. I could walk you through some software. This is how I make all the videos on this channel. And then when I'm done, I come over here to the button on the right, the big red stop button. I hit stop, and it just opened up a descript window on my other screen that looks like this. And here's what you need to know is if you record it using the quick recording as I did, this is all one layer. This is just a flat video layer that contains my webcam view and the view that I am showing on my screen. And so I can't. I can't change anything. I can't change how that webcam looks. There's no sequence here. It's just a flat layer. But if I let me open another composition and I'm going to start a recording from here, and I'm gonna do screen recording. And then I have my webcam in the bottom, but you can see there's no option to resize this. I can't move it around. The only thing that happens is if I hover my mouse over it, it sort of disappears. Choose the camera that I want. I display screen. I set all those settings. I click record into script. I set the area that I want to record, and I start recording and I'm live. My webcam stays here in the bottom left. No matter what, I can only hover over it, and it kind of fades out. That's all I can do. And when I'm done, I hit stop recording. And here is my view. Now here's what's different about the first method that I showed you is these are two separate layers. You can see here on my layers, I have this script, road, connect, stream, which is my microphone layer and webcam. And then I have the one here, which is my computer audio and screen. And if I click on this one, you can see the position thing here. I can fill canvas. That makes it full screen. I can do bottom left. And that automatically turns it into a circle, bottom right, et cetera. And so now that's kind of more like the loom view where it's. It's a circle floating around. And I can make it a square, I can make it portrait, I can make it landscape. Or I could just totally customize it by double clicking on it and cropping it to my preference like so. But there's the circle, that's the one people ask about most often. And you can resize it using corners. But that is how you create a circle from your webcam with description.
