A short tutorial transcript explaining how to publish videos directly from Descript to YouTube. Covers choosing Publish vs Export, entering title/description/category/tags, visibility settings (public/private/unlisted — recommendation: unlisted/private for review), signing in with Google each time, and confirming publish completion.
Descript has a feature that lets us publish our videos directly to YouTube. So no longer do you have to export something to your hard drive and then upload it to YouTube. We can go directly from descript to YouTube and I'll show you how to do it. So let's say this is our project that we want to upload and everything's all done. We have edited how we want. Up here in the top right we have a publish button and there's a publish and export option. Export is what puts it onto your hard drive. Publish is what allows us to push it to YouTube or elsewhere. So first of all, there's a web link that pushes it to descripts cloud, which is kind of like a loom video. It's just hosted at a URL and it'll update as you update the video. But again, we also have different podcast sources, podbean, Headliner and so on. But for our purposes right now we're going to go to YouTube and it lets us set the title of it, it lets us give it a description, set the category, put tags in it, and then whether it's public, private or unlisted, I recommend go unlisted or private so you have a chance to review it before it goes live. And then we're gonna have to sign in. This is something we have to do every time. Unfortunately, descript doesn't remember us, so we have to sign in every single time. Once we click that button, it takes us to our sign in with Google page. I have a bunch of different accounts that I manage for clients, but I'm going to put this one on the descript Mastery page. So I click that, it asks us, do you want to give Google access to descript? I'm going to allow. And then we have to hit publish again. This is very important because sometimes you might just think that oh, I'm done. But you do in fact have to hit publish once again and you can't see it. But there's a toast behind this publish window that says it is processing and it's already done. That was really quick. It just took a few seconds and my creating clips video is live on YouTube. So that is it. That's how you upload a video to YouTube from description.
