This is a YouTube video titled "View and Monitor Audio Levels in Descript" created in July 2024. The content is a tutorial-style presentation explaining how to enable and interpret audio level indicators within the Descript software, demonstrating how to identify audio clipping and adjust volume levels accordingly. The video features a single speaker providing step-by-step instructions.
The functionality to view your audio levels is not on by default in descript. So to turn that on, come up to your Settings menu, come down to View View, and then come down to toggle volume in Timeline. Click on that and it's now applied. It just added these little bars down here in the bottom, right. And so what it's going to look like when I start playing something and when I open up my timeline, it gets shifted a little bit to the left as the timeline tools now appear here. But here's what it looks like as I play something. Descript lets you highlight your transcript and then copy those highlights so you can see the the waves or the sound is bouncing and is gray in time with the sound waves. If something is too loud, it's going to turn yellow and then red. Red's going to fill out that complete bar. And if you're seeing red, that means the audio is way too loud. It's getting clipped. So for example, let me just turn up the volume here. Let's just crank the volume and show you how this looks. I hit play again into other compositions. So maybe you want. So my, my sound is getting clipped. It's way too loud. And you can see that bar is turning red and that's letting me know I should make some adjustments to level out my volume. If you found this video useful, I recommend this one. Next.
