A short single-speaker YouTube tutorial (Nov 2023) showing new webcam features in macOS Sonoma (macOS 14). Demonstrated features include presenter view options (off, small, large) which position the presenter's video during screen recordings or Zoom calls; portrait mode that blurs background; studio light that alters subject/background brightness; and reactions (thumbs-up, confetti, balloons, hearts, fireworks) — the speaker notes the thumbs-up reaction is AI-detected. The clip is a practical walkthrough of toggling these settings and how they appear on-screen.

macOS 14 (Sonoma)
The thumbs-up reaction.
It'll use AI to know that I'm up there. It is. If you're a Mac user and you have the latest OS which at the time of this recording is 14Macos Sonoma, I'm going to show you a cool thing that you can use and that I'm actually using right now. So right here at the top of your Mac you can see this purple thing. This is when you're screen recording. You'll also see this thing at the top of your zoom windows or anytime that you're using your webcam. You will see this in your Mac and if you click on it, you can see what you're currently sharing. So this is a view of the webcam that you're displaying and you can turn your presenter view. So right now it's off. If I turn it to small, watch what happens. There I am in the corner and it's just my head. It's kind of like zoomed in on me. I'm putting my head side to side. Or you can go large and that's super cool. It like brings you around, puts the recording behind me. You can choose. If you had multiple cameras, you could choose that. There I am in portrait mode, which means that it's kind of blurred out my background here. Let me turn the presenter view off again. So portrait mode. It blurs out my background. If I turn it off, everything is sharp. Turn it back on there I just me is sharp. There is studio light. So you notice I'm really bright and then my background is dark. If I turn it off, the whole thing is bright back on. And then the last one is reactions. So you can let me see if it'll work. Oh, it's not doing it. Sometimes it'll automatically detect. It'll use AI to know that I'm. Oh, there it is. And it'll. It'll do a thumbs up when I do a thumbs up. Or you can click it and then it'll have the same effect. Or you can do confetti. Oh, a light show. I haven't seen that one before. That's exciting. Balloons, raining heart fireworks. Cool. The only one I know that uses the AI is the thumbs up one. See if I can do it again. I guess not. So, yeah, that's a cool little thing that can help you with your screen recordings and your zoom calls.
