Descript's overdub on free and creator plans only recognizes 1,000 common words. If you use words outside that list, the audio comes out garbled. Upgrade to Pro to access the full vocabulary.
If you've ever run into this issue where Descript replaces your overdub by just saying gibberish or it says gibberish on the timeline, this is what's happening. Basically, there are three tier plans of Descript. There's a free tier, creator tier, and a pro tier. If you have the free or creator tier, then you are limited to a 1000 word vocabulary. That means you can train overdub with your voice, which is the AI that'll replace words with your AI version of your voice, but it'll be limited to a vocabulary of a thousand words. And here is the list on Descript's help site. I'll put this in the links so you can find it yourself. And it's common words like a, able, about, above, etc. All the way down to the last word on here is your so if the word that you're overdubbing or the phrase that you're overdubbing doesn't contain words on this list, then you won't be able to use overdub unless you have the pro version. So that is what's going on. It's not an error, it is intentional. It's one way that they try to get you to upgrade. All right, thanks for watching.
