Small Consistent Efforts Can Change Your Life - FDDTC #45

Devin Zander argues that success in weight loss, relationships, or business comes down to one thing: the inputs you control. A can of soda daily adds up to 1 pound a year; two extra miles walked compounds to 36 pounds. There are no hacks. Just commit 30 to 45 minutes daily to the work that matters.

Yo, what's up, Devin Zander here. From delivery driver to CEO podcast, and today we're going to be talking about inputs required to achieve the goals you want. If you think about anything right, relationships, good sex, making money, getting in great shape, there's something that is ubiquitous across all of them, which is the fact that our inputs determine our outputs. Wow, crazy. I know. Who would have thought Devin out here spitting knowledge? But I just want to talk about weight loss for a second because this helps everybody understand. If you want to make a bunch of money doing something right, the only control you have is your inputs. But that should actually excite you because that's the same thing everybody else has. So when people are starting up, when they're trying to make money online, when they're trying to start a business, right, those who win, at least from what I see in our clients and my own experience, they're not the ones who have like a bunch of money. In fact, I know a guy who has had a ton of money going in and he had a huge head start and he fucking crashed and burned. Meanwhile, I know students of ours who come in with zero money, zero experience, zero tech skills, and somehow they end up making hundreds of thousands of dollars. So, ladies and gentlemen, what's the difference? It's genuinely just the inputs. Now let me give you the weight loss example. Everybody knows how to get ripped. If you want six pack abs, believe it or not, I know crazy concept. You know how to get them, what do you do? You burn more calories than you eat and you do it day over day for a long period of time. It's literally that simple. Now if you want to have like a muscular body and stuff like that, you know, like me, I'm just so jacked over here. That's sarcasm. In case it wasn't obvious, you know, you have to hit the gym. So many Americans, so many people around the world, they want to be in great shape, they want to have abs, they want that movie star, rock star, well, probably not rock star body, because those guys just doing coke and not the good kind, not the diet Coke. We're talking about the white stuff. But you know, if you want to get movie star body, body, right, the Thor body, you have to just diet. And everyone knows how to do that. But why is it that so many people struggle to get in shape? Even though it's something that, if you were to ask most Americans, I would venture to say probably 60 to 75% of them say, yeah, I wish I could be in better shape, but they don't do it. And it's simply because people are not willing to put in the input required to get the success that they desire. The thing about losing weight is it's not even difficult, it's just slightly uncomfortable because you have to change your lifestyle. You have to say no to that food. You want it late at night, right? And that is not a behavior that these people have built into their system at this time. It's much easier to just continue eating, like continue drinking soda, beer, alcohol, whatever, right? When in reality it's actually much easier to lose weight and get in shape than people think. You just have to eat less, burn more, do it every day. An example I like to give is anywhere from like 100, 150 calories per can. Now somebody might think, oh wow, you know, one can of soda a day, that's not that big a deal, you know, like I deserve it. Without realizing that one can of soda a day is one pound of fat over a month because 3,500 calories is equal to one pound, which means you're gaining an extra 12 pounds per freaking year, bro. So I want you to think of the inverse. Is that of that though? Because for all those negative things, there's also an inverse. Imagine you go for a 1 mile walk every day. That's not that far. You could do it in 15, 20 minutes if you're really slow. As long as you're not being a silly little lad and eating an extra hundred calories because you're thinking to yourself, well, you know, I had that. I can eat this 400 calorie brownie now. It's not how it works. But my point being is I want to take this full circle. Let's go back to business. It is the same exact thing. Because the reality is if you're a customer of ours, you bought our trainings and stuff like that. We're not like holding back some secret sauce that only certain people get that we like and we deem them worthy of our top secrets. One day you'll be in the secret class. But not. No, no, we give you everything. The only difference between our lower priced courses versus our coaching programs is you get to work closer with us and we're giving you direct feedback and things like that. But there's not any stones left unturned. People don't want to accept that it's genuinely as simple as just controlling your inputs. And it's the same for business. I really need you to understand that you already know what to do. You might be overwhelmed you might say, I don't know where to start because there's so many different places you can start. But you know what to do. That's actually beautiful because that means that anyone can do this. Just like anybody can get a six pack. And it's not some secret recipe. It's literally just slowly doing over and over and over the information that we've already given you. The product research, the ads, the testing. Is it going to be perfect every time? No. Is it going to happen overnight? No. But I do believe 100%, and I believe this to be true in weight loss as well. And I know this because I used to be a fat little boy. And by a fat little boy, I mean a fat, like 26 year old who had to lose all the weight. It happens a lot quicker than you think. Because the truth is, is a lot of you have been trying to make money online for a long time and it hasn't happened yet. And because of that, your mind thinks, wow, this is so difficult. There's this part of you that wishes it would just magically happen. And there's this one magical thing that's gonna just come along and fix everything and make your dreams come true. But the reality is, is all you need to do is sit down and do the boring work over and over and over again. And that's why Matt and I try to be fun, because I understand that it's boring. I have to do it too. I understand, like, oh, yeah, I get to launch designs again. You know, it's like, it's fun when you start getting sales and you start making money. But even that wears off too. So the reality is just like losing weight. You just have to show up every single day and do the work. And then don't just do the work and be like, well, I guess it didn't work. I'm just going to try a new thing. Look at what you did. If something didn't work, why didn't it work? What went wrong? What did you test? What audiences? What kind of design? What gender were you trying to appeal to? What age, demographic? Like, try to figure out why something doesn't work. Don't just waste your work. Something I try to reinforce in our team over and over again is like, if we're going to do something, how can we benefit from this work over and over and over and over and over again? So you know the secret, and I see it time and time again. In our incubator group, we have students who are extremely successful. Some of it happens really quickly and Other students think that it's unfair, but the reality is, is they're showing up every day. They're not looking for some magic hack just like weight loss. They're just doing these small inputs every day that burn that extra 100 calories per day. Imagine this. Just to go back to how powerful this example is, let's say you skip the one soda and you do the walk every day. That's 24 pounds per year. If you can just start so stacking these small things on top of each other, the results you get are wild. And imagine you add just one more extra 100 calories burned per day to that. What if it's just you go for another mile on your walk, you do two miles a day, and you drink one less can of soda per day. That's 36 pounds per year you can lose. That's how quickly things can change. These small things, they really do stack up on each other. So what are your things for work every day? Just launching a new product, launching a new ad. That's realistically all you need to do. Get out there, research your niche, research your competitors. Do these things every day. Spend 30 minutes, minutes a day on each of them. That's two hours a day. If you can commit that, amazing things can happen. It can happen really quickly. It's just so important for us to realize that it is not the hacks, it's not the secrets. Can you put in more? Yes. Will that get your results faster? Yes. Will it get you bigger results? Yes. But as I've shown you with the weight loss example, three small levers, two miles a day, that's 30 to 45 minutes a day, plus one less can of soda. That can lose you 36 pounds a year. The small actions can have big needle movers too. Anyways, that's it for today. I'll see you guys in the next episode. Peace.
