Devin Zander argues that only actions speak in life, like a silent movie. He emphasizes personal accountability, tracking progress, and aligning what you do with what you want to achieve.
Alright, guys, so what I want to share with you today is something that I learned from one of my mentors. Got two mentors, Andy Frisella, Ed Mylett, Arete Syndicate, you may have heard of it, but what I wanted to discuss with you is something that I heard on Ed Mylett's podcast, which is raising the bar. You know, the scup, core value, raising the bar and being honest with yourself. Because we all talk a really big game. Like we all know as individuals, we're always talking out loud saying, we're gonna do this, we're gonna do big things. I'm gonna be successful, I'm gonna be the best employee at this company, make X amount of money, I'm going to do this, I'm going to support my family, I'm going to be the richest one of my friends, right? But I want to ask you guys what happens when you shift your view about this, right? Because we all talk a big game, but let's pretend our life is a movie, okay? We're all talking this big game in this movie. We're saying we're going to do all these things, but what if you shift your paradigm or shift the way you view this and instead you view your movie as a silent film. No longer can you talk and you can't say, oh, I'm going to do these big things, I'm going to accomplish X, Y and Z. Because it's silent now. The only thing you have are your actions. And we all hear the phrase actions speak louder than words, right? And in this sense it's entirely true. Because we cannot talk out loud. We can only perform and show up every day. So the question I want everyone to do on this call or what I want you guys to consider is would you still consider yourself on the track to do those big things, to accomplish these big things, to hit these income goals, to do these items. If your life was a silent movie and only your actions spoke for you, no longer your words, only your actions, are you showing up every day. Are you doing all the steps that it takes, you know, like legit, unbiased viewpoint, Are you doing every single thing you can or are you just talking a big game? And when you view your life this way, it can reveal the truth to yourself, which is a good thing. We should always be seeking truth because without truth, we do not know how to react to something. If I'm trying to launch a marketing campaign and I don't have data on which to base my decisions on, I'm just making guesses. Truth is what we need to make real decisions to improve our situation and improve our lives. So in this case, with our big talk, our goals for success and all these things, what is the truth? Are we really acting on it? Are we living it every single day? At the end of the day, in your silent movie, did you do every single thing that you need to do to hit your goals? And if the answer is no, then you know the answer is no now. And you could do something about it, but you have to track it. You can't just say, oh, I'm gonna do all these big things and keep saying that every day, but not be improving or not tracking what you're doing or not being real with yourself. So I just thought that was really a good paradigm shift to look at it in terms of would I still consider that I'm doing all that I can to succeed if I could no longer talk about it and all I had to reflect on my progress were the actions that I were taking every day? And in my silent movie, do my actions align with or do they line up with the goals that I have? And I think by doing that, it'll give you a much more realistic and clear view into the work that you do and help you understand, like, is what I'm doing gonna get me to the place that I want to be? And if not, then, boom, make a shift and get after it. And if you are doing everything you can, then, fuck, yeah, go you try a little bit harder. Because, like, we've learned only by increasing the load do we continue to grow. So that's what I got for you homies.
