Rich Dad Poor Dad: The Financial Freedom Lessons That Changed My Life

In this solo YouTube talk, Alignment Mastery Coach and author Dipak Bhadra shares the core concepts from Robert Kiyosaki’s Rich Dad Poor Dad that transformed his own financial mindset. He begins by clarifying that financial freedom is not about having large sums of money or a beach lifestyle, but about having choices—time, location, and the ability to cover expenses without worry. He explains the fundamental asset‑vs‑liability distinction, using his own home and car as examples, and stresses that an item becomes an asset only when it puts cash into the pocket. Dipak contrasts active income (trading time for money) with passive income, listing rental income, dividends, royalties, business and digital income as pathways to build cash‑flow that works without daily effort. He introduces Kiyosaki’s cash‑flow quadrant (employee, self‑employed, business owner, investor) and urges viewers to move toward the investor side. Personal anecdotes illustrate his journey from an engineer at age 46 to owning 12 Dubai properties, publishing books, and coaching others. He offers a free 50‑page sample of his simplified guide, invites viewers to join a coaching program, and ends with a call to subscribe and share. The overall message is motivational: with the right mindset, education, and mentors, anyone can create financial freedom.

Hey friends, good evening from Dubai and good morning, good afternoon, whichever part of the world you are in. In this video, I am going to share a very powerful concept. The same concept, same awareness, same knowledge, same understanding has changed my life, and the concept is financial freedom. My name is Dipak Bhadra. I am Alignment Mastery Coach and author of these two books, Grow Your Money Tree and Alignment Code. And in this video, I am going to share some basic learnings about this book, Rich Dad Poor Dad, which is by Robert Kiyosaki. And this is the book which I had very first version in 2011 when I started learning from Robert Kiyosaki. And fortunately, this book is personally signed by Robert. I personally met him. And then when I started learning about principles of financial freedom, being me as an engineer, being me as a non-financial person, it was very difficult to me in the beginning. I made a mistake, or maybe some mistakes, not only one mistakes, but then it was a part of the journey. Many people, they stop when they make mistakes. I was programmed that you will make a mistake, but without that you won't be able to achieve that big dream of financial freedom. And now when I look back, everything was truth. So, uh, this book is very famous. Any airport you go, on the bookshop you will find this. And still many more than, I think, 25+ years, this book is still, uh, international bestseller book. I'm sharing something very simplified version or some basics of this book. I'm not going much in detail in this video. Maybe in next videos I will go little in detail, but in this video I'm going to, or I'm touching very basic part which anybody can understand. So keep your mind open. And be ready to raise your awareness about money and financial freedom. So this is, you can see on left side, this is me with Robert Kiyosaki. I personally met him. I'm coached by him and his team for 18 months. I learned about real estate in 2011. I started learning. Since then, my mindset, my programming of financial freedom has changed. So we have a lot of myths about financial freedom. So what financial freedom is not about? Financial freedom is not about having a lot of money. Financial freedom is not about having millions and billions. It's not about having a beach house and you are not doing anything and you are just resting on the beach or chair. That is not financial freedom. Financial freedom is very simple but not easy because it has to do a lot with mindset. It needs a prosperity mindset. Now if you have mindset even of lack and limitation or poverty mindset, you can always change it. That is the power of this book, at the same time power of learning about mind. So to start with, the first lesson which I want to share is this: what is financial freedom? It's not about having too much money, it's about having choices. So that's again, financial freedom is not all about money, it's about the choices that it will open up for you. Financial freedom is priceless, but it's not free. You have to invest time, you have to invest money, you have to make some mistakes also. And then it's about life when you are not having worry about money because you have built assets which takes care of your expenses. You have time freedom, you have location freedom, you can operate from anywhere, you can live anywhere. You can work from anywhere. That kind of business model you can build, that kind of passive income you can build, and then definitely you are not worried about how you are going to pay the bills or how you are going to cover your expenses. So that is the basics of financial freedom. But in terms of definition, when we say it starts with this understanding, it starts with understanding of assets and liability. That is the first lesson. Most of the people, they are not They can't differentiate between assets and liabilities. Now, in this book, Robert Kiyosaki says that your own home, if it is mortgaged, is not your asset. It's bank's asset. And even if it is fully paid, you are still paying maintenance, you are still paying some other expenses, insurance. So it is not your asset. It is taking money out of your pocket. Anything that takes money out of your pocket is liability. Anything that brings money in your pocket is asset. So if you see this picture, the house— now with this house, if you give on rent and you are getting rent, and that rent covers your mortgage amount and it brings some money as a positive cash flow in your pocket, it's become asset. Take example of car. Now car, if you buy for your own use, you know that the moment you take car out of showroom, it depreciate in value. And then there is insurance, there is registration, there are fuels, there wear and tear. So if you are yourself driving that car, it's a liability. Now there is nothing wrong in having car, nothing wrong in having luxury car, but you should know that it is liability, it is not an asset. But the same car, if you give it on Uber, it becomes an asset because that will take care of that expenses. So same car can be asset, can be liability based on your understanding about this philosophy of assets and liability. What is next? Next is active income. So people are trading time for money. Let it be working professional, let it be entrepreneur, but if you are trading time for money, it's active income. The moment you stop trading time, the income stops. You work, you earn. It is exchange of time and money. The moment you stop giving time, money stops. And if you stop working, the earning stocks, and it is a linear income. There is a cap. You can't invest per day more than, say, 10 or 12 or 14 hours because your body needs rest, you need your own time. So there is always limitation when your income depends on trading your time. So think about getting out of time-for-money trap, and that's what I teach people. What is passive income? Passive income is something that comes without you working. Activity. Yes, initially you have to work to build the assets, but with finance— financial education and right awareness, you can do that. With controlled spending habits, with awareness about financial vehicles and instruments, you can build that passive income. You have to set up it once, it works for you lifelong, and then it gives you time freedom and wealth, everything. And it is a residual income, it keeps on coming. It is It becomes infinite income when you build assets, passive income generating assets. It gives you freedom. I have built that. I have 12 properties in Dubai which brings rent month to month to month. And then I work on something which is my passion, to help people, to share this knowledge, to prepare this video, to coach people, to travel around the world, because I'm not worried about how my living expenses are going to be. Paid. Now I am not talking about to impress you. I'm talking— I'm telling this to impress upon you that if I can do it, you can do it. But yes, you need right awareness, you need right mentors. So think about that, where you stand, whether your income comes from assets or liability. What are some examples of passive income? Your rental. If you have assets which gives you rent in your pocket, it's passive income. Dividend income. Royalty income. So now my book is my royalty. I did it once, but now I just need to get reprinted. It sells on Amazon. For Robert Kiyosaki, this is a royalty income. Every year maybe he is earning millions of dollars as a royalty. So then comes business income. Now business income is not something you have to trade your time. You have people, you have system, you have multiple sources of income. Digital income these days, you create a music or you create some other royalty, you can create it. So it is all about awareness and education. Then comes, so cash flow patterns, like see, ultimately it is the way cash flow comes into your pocket, into your bank account. So normal conventional ways, working professionals, what they do, they trade their time. That is, they get money equivalent to time they trade. Same thing with self-employed people, they trade more time and they are the last people to receive the income or profit, unfortunately. So both of them, working professionals and self-employed people, are working on, or you can say depending on, active income. But at the same time, business owners— so Robert Kiyosaki in this book says that big business owners, they have people working for them, they have system working for them. They are using other people's money, they are borrowing, and then out of that they are making money. So you own a system, you are not system, you own a system. And the goal is to move from— so there are 4 quadrants: employee, self-employed, big business, and investor. I will share this cash flow quadrant in another video. And then again, it is asset and liability. So rich people, they acquire assets. But what happens to the poor and middle class people? They build liabilities. They buy a lot of liabilities— expensive clothes, expensive watches, expensive vacations, expensive school for children, expensive car, big home. And they are— as their income goes, their expenses goes up. They keep on building liabilities. Think about that. Buy the assets that put money in your pocket, not liabilities. And this is by Robert Kiyosaki. I learned from him this awareness. Now, if this makes sense to you and you feel that, no, you need to learn— I started learning this education at the age of 46. Till the age of 46, I never even heard about this book. But when I, I was listening audio for months and months and months, that made me to contact Robert Kiyosaki's company. Join coaching I Learn Real Estate, uh, as a passive income for 18 months program. I invested $7,500 in 2011, but I consider this as investment, not as a cost. So I am asking you, are you willing, are you ready to build your financial freedom? I am offering this gift to you.
