In this solo talk, Dominique Broadway explains why most people fail at New Year's financial resolutions— they set goals once and never revisit them. She introduces a practical system to overcome this: using a physical notebook to perform frequent brain dumps (ideally daily), writing down every idea or aspiration. After the dump, she filters the list, discarding unviable thoughts and turning the remaining goals into concrete action items, each paired with a specific target date. By consistently reviewing and updating these dated tasks, she argues that financial, business, and life goals become achievable rather than forgotten resolutions. The talk concludes with a challenge to adopt the brain‑dump routine, use a notebook, and schedule actionable steps to turn dreams into reality.

Hi, I'm Dominique Broadway, and thanks for joining me where your money, business, and life is demystified. And what I want to talk to you about today is setting financial goals and the importance of writing them down. And goal setting is one of those things that most people do the beginning of the year for as their New Year's resolutions, and then usually by the middle of January, sometimes not even that long, the goals are gone. You never see them again. Again. And people are always complaining that they're not reaching their goals year after year. And one of the biggest reasons is because you're setting goals in the beginning of the year, you're never looking at them again, and then you set the same goal again the following year, and then year after year things never change, right? So what I want to do is show you what I do rather frequently to actually reach my goals— financial goals, life goals, business goals, whatever they may be. So I have a notebook, okay? It's a big notebook, but it is a notebook. And every Monday— and actually almost every Every day I sit down and I do a brain dump. And if you follow me, you know I'm a huge fan of brain dumps. And as a true entrepreneur, I have thoughts that are on my mind all the time, racing, all these great business ideas, all these great things I want to implement. But a lot of times, because they're just racing around in my mind, that's all they are, is ideas and thoughts. So one of the things that I always do is sit down, cut my phone off, computer, everything, and just dump everything out of my brain that I want to accomplish for the week, for the month, for the year, just any ideas that I have. And once I write down the goal, the next thing I do is start figuring out which goals I want to actually implement, because sometimes some of these ideas are trash. And I actually start writing down action items that I need to do to make these happen with dates. And these are some of the things that you need to do in your financial life as well. We set these goals all the time that we want to reach, and maybe buying a house, paying off debt, saving up for a home, but we never have a date that we— a date in mind when we want to actually accomplish these goals. So I challenge you to actually start making things happen in your life. I want you to start doing brain dumps. Get yourself a notebook and start figuring out the, the action items and dates that you need to have in place to make your dreams happen. Thank you so much for joining me today where your money, business, and life is demystified, and happy goal setting.
