Oh my gosh, I am so excited. This is the very first episode or introduction or teaser or whatever you want to call it for Finances Demystified with Dominique Broadway, and I am your host Dominique. I am super excited to be doing this podcast. I can't even hold my composure. But anyway, why did I start the podcast? So there's so many reasons why I started it and why you should be tuning in to get your finances demystified. I have been in the financial services industry for for so many years and just realize that the conversation of money is something that has become so taboo. People will talk about sex all day long, but if anyone even mentions money, the room gets super quiet. Did you hear that? That was silence. That's how it is anytime I or anyone else mentions money. And so it's always just crickets. So the purpose of this podcast is really to provoke the conversation of money, providing behind-the-scenes insight on what it took for myself and for others to start their businesses, pay off debt, um, get their credit score up and reach their first million, or even save their first thousand, how they were able to do it and how you can do it too. So I guess I should tell you a little bit about me because you probably don't know who I am. So I've been in this entrepreneurial space for about 5 years, and I've dibbled around with entrepreneurial stuff as well when I was a— when I was a kid and a teenager. And I've always been super passionate about money, how it works, how to make it grow, and most importantly, how to make more money and make it work for me without me actually having to physically go out and work. So ever since I was, I guess, in high school, I knew I wanted to be a financial planner. And that was because I was super intrigued by money. And after listening and seeing how the rich were getting richer, which is pretty much two ways, either real estate or the stock market, I realized I had to learn and get into this field. So I started my career at UBS Financial Services, which is one of the largest wealth management firms in the world. And at this firm, we work with people that had $10 million and up in investable assets, which basically means that's how much money is sitting in their investing account or maybe savings account if you want to call it that. And after being there for a while, you know, my friends were coming to me asking me for financial advice because I had bought my first house at 22 and I always had money saved. And they're like, Dominique, what are you doing differently than what we're doing? And after being at this firm for a while, I realized— and actually being at other firms as well— I realized that people were not talking about money. The things that my parents had taught me about money no one else was talking about. So I quit my job and started my amazing company, Finances Demystified, and that's what we're going to be talking about on this podcast. My journey, in addition to highlighting a lot of awesome dynamic people and getting the real behind the scenes of what it took to build their businesses, getting behind the scenes of what it took for people to pay off their debt. I'll be sharing my stories as well and giving you all the financial knowledge that we should be learning and talking about in school, but also just behind the scenes, like what did it look like for YouTubers, entrepreneurs, people that have started companies, everything that we possibly want to know about money, we're going to be talking about on this podcast. So that's why you need to tune in. I'm super excited to be here and to be on this podcasting journey with each and every one of you.
