Hi, I'm Dominique Broadway, and thanks for joining me where your money, business, and life is demystified. And today I want to show you how to stop setting yourself up for financial failure. And you're probably thinking to yourself, Dominique, I'm not intentionally setting myself up for financial failure, but actually you are. So one of the first things I want to talk about is spending triggers. And basically spending triggers are those things that make you spend. So sometimes it could be a person, it could be a thing, it could be a situation. All these types of things make you go out and spend more money. So example, I feel like my mom sometimes can be a spending trigger for me. When she comes over, she's like, hey, let's go to Marshalls, let's do this, let's do that. And those are places I normally don't go or I try to stay away from. But whenever I go out, I end up spending more money with her. So example, in my my life, that's a spending trigger. It could also be for you when your friends call and they want to go to happy hour or brunch, things like that. You know you can't say no, right? So maybe you should tell them, look, this time, you know, this month I'm trying to save some money, so I'm not going to be going to all the brunches and happy hours that you invite me to, so just don't invite me, right? So all these different types of things can be spending triggers. Other things is putting yourself in what I like to call toxic or provoking environments, right? So if you know that when you go to happy hour, you're Your goal may be to buy one drink, but you know when you hang out with those certain friends, there's never a one drink type of party. You know you're gonna have at least 5 or 6 or 7, or you're gonna eat tons of food. Don't put yourself in a situation if you know you're on a budget and you have a bigger goal and you're saving for that house or that emergency fund or that awesome trip to Greece, which I'm saving for. Don't put yourself in this situation to spend more money than you need to. So once again, I'm Dominique Broadway, where your money, business, and life is demystified. And please keep yourself out of provoking and spending trigger situations. See you soon.
