What is mobbing behavior?
As far back as I can remember, I always wanted to be a gangster.
It's what birds do, specifically things like crows or blue jays. Even some small songbirds will do it when they are trying to get a predator to leave their area. And right now that's happening with a hawk. Have a listen.
The birds in the mob will gather into a big group and they will swoop down at their target and try to just get them to take off and leave the area.
Now right in the middle of the screen there on a branch is the hawk that these crows are angry with. It's kind of hidden away a little bit from them, so they've calmed down, but they're still not happy that it's this close to them.
Due to leaves and height here, I'm unable to get any clear shots of the crows.
Watch my video on how to find owls for more information on mobbing behavior. Thanks so much for watching. I appreciate you. I'll see you next time. Bye-bye.
