Andrew Barron grew a business to $30 million a year within three to four years after attending business school in New Zealand. He credits the program for practical learning, access to investors and sales experts, and the guidance that answered his questions about starting and scaling.
Worth every cent that I put into to go and do the program. The day I got back from that in New Zealand, I started my first business and we went from nothing to 30 million a year in three to four years from myself and one other guy sitting in a bunker, to six to ten people turning over $30 million a year. Business school is how to run a business. It's not just a lecture where someone's lecturing to you and saying, da, da, write this. It's not that, it's experiential. You're in an environment where you're getting exposed to experts in all of these fields. How am I going to do that? I'm from Auckland. What are you talking about? A lot of things, a lot of stories started coming up in my mind about how it wasn't for me, I didn't really need it, I wasn't really in business at the time. What value could I possibly get out of going hanging out with a bunch of billionaires with experts in their fields and investment and sales, and what value was there for me? Eventually I decided to make the commitment to do it. If you're thinking about coming to business school, you must be looking for something. You must be at a place in your life where what you're currently doing isn't quite working for you. You feel like you can achieve more. You need a little bit of guidance or a lot of guidance. Or maybe you're not in business at all, but you want to be in business and you don't know how to do it. Business school will give you the answers to all those questions that you've got.
