A short personal monologue by Dr. Leigh Janelle (Toronto), founder of the Hard at Work Institute and Center for Hard Living, reflecting on her biggest business mistake: operating from fear rather than her heart and core values. She explains that reorganizing time around highest values, relaxing, and working from passion increased her energy, attracted opportunities, and improved her business; she advises others to "live from your heart."
Hello, I'm Dr. Leigh Janelle from Toronto, Canada, and I'm the founder of the Hard at Work Institute as well as the center for Hard Living. And my biggest mistake in business, I believe, was in the past, was living from more my fears than my heart. And what I mean by that is working more hours than I really needed to to ensure that I would be successful. And I say all the time, we don't create what we want in life, we create what we believe. So if we believe we're going to be successful, we would be organizing our time according to our highest value, making sure we live. And this is one of the things I've done in my life. And as soon as I did that, when I started to relax, organize my time, live for my values, I brought my business to the next level. And when I work with my clients, they're always surprised what happens when they start start living from their highest core values. I think it's because at that moment, you feel more passionate, you have more energy, you're more excited, so you attract more opportunity than when we do things because we have to. So this is my recommendation. Live from your heart and not from your fears.
