Sam Horn isolated herself in Maui and didn't ask for help until joining a mastermind group. Within thirty minutes, peers improved her website. The lesson: don't work alone—find people who have your back.
Hi, I'm Sam Horn. I'm the intrigue expert. And the biggest mistake I ever made is I had the pleasure of living in Maui for many years, and I loved Maui, but there wasn't anyone who did what I did at the time, which was professional speaking and helping people write their books. And so I got kind of isolated. In fact, I didn't know how isolated until I moved to the mainland. I put together a mastermind group with some friends, and we're going around the table. At the first meeting, we divvied up the time, and it got to be my turn. And I said, I'm really enjoying this, but I can't think of anything I need help with, so I'll just give my time back to the group. Thank Kevin for Mariah Burton Nelson. She said, sam, what are you working on? And I said, well, I'm improving my website. She said, sam, we can help you with that. And she was right. A half an hour later, my website was infinitely better. And what I realized was it had been so long since I had asked for help, I had forgotten how. And the biggest mistake I made was not asking for help earlier and. And not forming masterminds with people who have my back and my front. Thankfully, I've got that now, and I hope that you have one, too.
