Naturally Produce the "Ozempic Effect" (MELT FAT FAST)

YouTube video by Dr. Ashley Lucas explaining how to boost natural GLP-1 (GLP1) hormone to mimic the effects of medications like Ozempic without drugs. Dr. Lucas (PhD nutritionist, registered dietitian, founder of PhD Weight Loss) warns about side effects of long-term GLP-1 drug use (hunger-cue suppression, muscle wasting) and presents five natural GLP-1 activators: 1) protein-forward diet (≈0.8 g protein per lb optimal body weight, animal proteins preferred); 2) fiber and resistant starch (eat protein+fiber first to raise GLP-1 up to 38%); 3) healthy fats (avocado, olive oil, tallow); 4) fermented foods/gut support (kimchi, kefir, sauerkraut; mentions probiotic Akkermansia and antioxidants eriomin, resveratrol, grapeseed extract in her supplement); 5) yerba mate tea (claims up to 50% GLP-1 increase). I'm Dr. Ashley, by the way. If this is one of the first times you are listening to one of my episodes or watching one of my videos and I am the owner and founder of PhD Weight Loss. I am a PhD nutritionist and registered dietitian and to date have helped over 11, 000 people drop more than 480,000 pounds nationwide. And my goal with this channel is to give you the information that you need to drop the to keep it off to feel incredible and ultimately keep the weight off for the long term. Okay, so let's dive in to how you can eat naturally and create this ozempic effect. Now, GLP1 stands for glucagon, like peptide 1, this is a natural hormone made in your gut that tells your brain that you're full. It actually slows digestion. So the food that you do eat stays in your gut longer, which is why it triggers these fullness signals and tells your brain, gosh, you've still been fed, you don't need to eat more. And it can help to stabilize blood sugar. You probably have heard that these GLP1 drugs are actually diabetic drugs. So they help to keep your insulin and your blood sugar levels pretty even. Now, medications like Ozempic simply mimic this natural hormone, but your body produces it on its own. Generally, we're not producing enough of it because of our lifestyle, because of the way that we eat, but we can change our lifestyle factors to increase our natural GLP1 secretions. Amazing. Right now, when you rely on these medications long term, specifically and especially high doses, like most medical providers are advising, there are significant side effects. These side effects that are going to leave you worse off than you were to begin with. They will override your body's hunger cues. And I know it might feel good to not be hungry, but being hungry is actually something healthy and something natural. Now, we don't want to have crazy cravings and hunger all the time. That's one thing that we do at PhD weight loss. Just by shifting how and when you eat, you can get rid of hunger, you can get rid of the food noise. So I understand that aspect. But it also is important for your body to be able to speak to you and to tell you when you're hungry and be able to discern that between a craving and being able to listen to that and do something about it. So anyway, you can override your body's hunger cues, you can significantly waste lean muscle mass. And lean muscle mass is your major predictor of overall health. If you are over the age of 40, maintaining or growing your muscle mass is your main focus. Oftentimes with these drugs, we lose muscle mass, really see increased muscle wasting. I've seen that with a lot of people who have come into PhD weight loss after being on these drugs and either having gotten off them on their own and gained all the weight back, or wanting us to help them taper off. And then since you've lost muscle and the majority of people gain all the fat back, they actually end up fatter than they were before and worse off metabolically. This is a really big issue. So I just want you to know that you have the power within yourself by what you eat and how you live your life to be able to naturally improve those GLP1 levels and at least not need the significantly high doses that we have been told that we need of these medications. Now, if you feel like your hunger and your cravings are just totally out of control and you are tired of it and you have tried everything and just cannot seem to drop the weight and keep it off then you definitely should check out PhD weight loss. All right, let's dive into the five natural activators of GLP1. Number one, protein. Protein forward diet. That is the ticket to your success. This is not a high protein Atkins type of way of eating, but it is getting adequate protein in your body because protein is your natural GLP1 trigger. Protein stimulates GLP1 the most out of all foods. And you want to aim for about 0.8 grams of high quality protein per pound. Optimal body weight. So what this will be is let's say your optimal body weight is 180 pounds. Take 180, multiply it times 0.8 and that will tell you how many grams of high quality protein you want to consume in a day. High quality protein. I'm talking about animal protein, not plant based protein if you can swing it at all. So I mean chicken, turkey, right. Any kind of poultry. I'm talking red meat, steak, yes. Rib eye, even fish, seafood, tuna, clams, you name it. Any kind of animal protein is going to give you the biggest bang for your buck because your body can metabolize it and absorb it and utilize it most efficiently. Eggs are in there. Plain, full fat or low fat Greek yogurt. Those are other good options. This is what keeps you lean, this is what keeps you stable. And this is what's going to tell your brain you've been fed and help your gut secrete and make stimulate GLP1 secretions. All right, number two is fiber and resistant starch. Resistant starch helps to feed that good bacteria in your gut. And the two, when the good bacteria are in there and they are metabolizing fiber. Oh my gosh. And the best combo is to add some of that protein I just mentioned in there. It's the perfect trifecta. Now you've heard fiber. You know, you get those from your veggies, especially non starchy vegg. The vegetables I always talk about that would be like your broccoli and cauliflower or leafy greens, bell peppers, cucumbers, romaine lettuce, all of these things are have good fiber in them. Also resistant starch, which you can get from asparagus or chia or zen basil seeds. Actually, cooled potatoes can give you some resistant starch, some raw carrots or raw beets and green plantains. For the biggest boost, you want to eat your protein and fiber first in the meal because this alone alone increases your GLP1 levels by up to 38%. So what I mean by this is let's say you have for dinner, I mean, all the dinners I'm going to recommend only have these foods in it. So let's say you have on your plate you have steak and you have some veggies and then you have a sweet potato. You want to make sure that you eat the steak and those veggies like your salad first in a combination and then go for the sweet potato after. So any kind of carbohydrate you're going to eat after the protein and the fiber combo. All right, number three is healthy fats. Healthy fats like avocado, avocado oil, olive oil, tallow, all of these things help to keep you full. They slow glucose absorption and they extend that GLP1 full signal. Number four are fermented foods and focusing on your gut health. Like I mentioned earlier, we want these good bacteria in the gut that's going to create this healthy environment for your body to secrete these GLP1 levels. Your gut is where GLP1 is made. So eating fermented foods like kimchi and kefir and sauerkraut every day strengthen the gut bacteria that enhance GLP1 signaling. This is actually why I made a brand new product at Dr. Ashley Wellness. And I am so excited because it's just launching now. In this supplement, I included the number one probiotic that benefits GLP1 secretaries secretion pathways. It's called Akkermansia. Super excited about this. And then I combined it with three really powerful antioxidants. One is called iriomin and it comes from a citrus peel. Basically, it's a citrus bioflavonoid and it increases GLP1 secretions significantly. And then I added resveratrol and grapeseed extract, which are two antioxidants that help to make this perfect environment for Akkermansia and Irumin to do its job and enhance GLP1. So definitely, if you are looking for a natural approach to support your gut, to support healthy aging and enhance those GLP1 secretions. This is going to be your best bet. If you are listening to this on a podcast platform, head over to drashleywellness.com and if you are watching this on YouTube just go into the description, click the link and there will be a special discount for you. And then number five is Yerba. Yerba mate is a tea that comes from South America and it has a lot of great ingredients in there which research has shown can increase GLP1 levels like up to 50%. It can help to control cravings, improve fat metabolism so you could swap your coffee for an afternoon yerba mate tea. So we talked about the specific ingredients that can support natural GLP1 secretions, but I want to give you like what this actually looks like. A full day meal plan. Right? So okay, breakfast. Breakfast Scrambled eggs with spinach and bell peppers, half an avocado, a spoon of sauerkraut or fermented salsa and then your coffee or your yerba mate with a splash of heavy cream and maybe some allulose to sweeten it. Lunch Grilled salmon or chicken over mixed greens with roasted veggies, some pumpkin seeds, some olive oil based dressing and maybe a side of fermented pickles or kimchi. Your snack I like a snack around 3 to 4pm but again it depends on when you eat the rest of your meals. But this could a plain low fat or full fat Greek yogurt with a sprinkling of zen basil seeds, maybe some berries. You could have a mug of bone broth with some extra collagen in there, maybe a touch of coconut oil. And then dinner could be some grass fed beef or a steak or maybe a turkey bowl with zucchini mushrooms, cauliflower rice. You could top it with some goat cheese or whatever type of feta cheese that you enjoy and some salsa on top of that. And then if you are hungry after dinner, some chamomile tea with cinnamon or hard boiled eggs with salt. If you are truly hungry, you can see that every meal in this meal plan is built to keep your blood sugar stable, to trigger GLP1 and to melt fat safely and consistently.
