A Short Story Read by Dr. Dave

Dr. Dave reads a clinic brochure explaining chiropractic as nervous-system optimization. Subluxations, or spinal misalignments, cause nerve interference and organ dysfunction. Adjustments restore nerve flow so the body can heal itself, with repeated visits reinforcing long-term spinal health.

Hey everyone, it's Dr. Dave. Hopefully you're all doing well and enjoying yourselves, taking care of yourselves, helping each other. You know, a lot of times people ask me what chiropractic is and what a chiropractic treatment does, and over the years my answer to that question has changed quite a bit. And these days when people ask me what chiropractic is, I like to tell them that it's a type of healthcare that allows you to have the best experience every day and allows you to go out and create the best experiences every day by helping you through the function of your nervous system. And your nervous system is one of the most important systems in the body because it controls and regulates everything that goes on. So a chiropractic treatment removes any interference from allowing that nervous system to help your body do its best and be its best and allows the body to go back to doing what it was designed and programmed to do if there have been any changes, and those changes are all the health problems that we can experience. Sometimes there can be a nervous system component, and if there is, chiropractic can help. And I'll tell you, in a lot of cases, there is a nervous system component that may not have originally caused that problem, but now it's become a part of that problem because your nervous system is always involved, and chiropractors can influence that nervous system through a chiropractic treatment to make sure your body's doing what it was designed and programmed to do. I have this neat brochure at the clinic and you know, you could buy a book, but sometimes you can go and hear the author read it. And it's interesting because it provides a different perspective sometimes. And I remember back in grade school, it was always great, they gave us reading time so we could read a book, but I always loved it when the teacher read the book because all you had to do was sit and listen. So I'm going to read you this brochure today. It's called "You and Chiropractic: Get Well, Stay Well." And it starts off on the first page talking about results. And it says, "Today's chiropractic methods produce results without drugs and surgery because you are alive, and so your body is busy at work regulating and repairing itself. That's what it was designed and programmed to do. Impulses flowing over your nervous system control how well your body works. Physical, chemical, or emotional stresses often overload your nervous system." Then there's something called a subluxation. Sounds like subway station. And that subluxation will cause muscles to tighten, spinal joints to lock, and nearby nerves to be choked or irritated. And the nerve interference can then cause organs and tissues throughout your body to be affected and malfunction or cause dysfunction. A thorough exam locates the exact source of that nerve interference. So an examination is always a good idea because sometimes you can't feel that nerve interference or know that it's happening, but a doctor of chiropractic can determine if it is. A precise force at the right time and the right place revives your body to heal itself, and that's what an adjustment does, or a chiropractic treatment. All right, so we're looking for that subluxation, which is something that's not working right in your body causing nerve interference, and if we can adjust that subluxation, We can restore the nerve function, allowing your body to go back to do what it was designed and programmed to do, a lot of which is heal and maintain and regulate yourself. Healing happens when well-being returns as repeated visits retrain and strengthen your spine to optimize that health. Then periodic chiropractic checkups help you stay well after you get well. And I really like this last part. It says, you hold the key. And how long you benefit from chiropractic care is up to you. So some people find that after there's been some benefit, and sometimes that benefit comes quickly, sometimes it takes a long time. It depends on the nature of the problem and the person who has the problem. But when it does come, people usually discover that chiropractic is actually a good part of their lifestyle to help maintain their optimal health. Because at what point in time would you like your nervous system functioning less or not be able to create a great experience?? And the answer for most of us is we'd like that for as long as possible, and chiropractic can help do that. Alright, so thanks for letting me share that little story with you about chiropractic and chiropractic care, and I hope it helps you get a good idea of what can help you create great experiences in your life every day so you can go out there and have the best life possible.
