In this short motivational talk, Dr. David Koivuranta uses a garden metaphor to illustrate how the human body renews itself and how we can support that process. He describes planting lettuce, kale, radishes, tomatoes, squash, raspberries, and blackberries, explaining that a seed, given water, sunlight, and nutrients, knows how to grow. He parallels this with the body’s cellular turnover: skin renews every 48 hours, liver about every 30 days, bone healing takes roughly eight weeks, and whole‑body rejuvenation may occur over months to years. The core message is that, like a garden, our health thrives when we provide the right conditions—good food, movement, sunlight, adequate sleep, and positive thinking. He encourages listeners to “water” themselves daily, creating positive experiences and reaping the harvest of a well‑maintained internal garden.

Hey everyone, it's Dr. Dave. Hopefully you're all out there creating those great experiences. What do you got in store for today? You know, in the springtime every year we plant some stuff in our garden here. We have some lettuce and kale. We planted some radishes, some tomatoes. We even have some spaghetti squash which are kind of out of control here behind me. We have some raspberries and blackberries. Just some stuff that is kind of fun to grow. But it's so neat because in the spring you take this seed and you put it in the soil and you kind of make sure it gets some water and some sunshine and there's some nutrients in the ground and that kind of seed knows what to do. And several months later you kind of reap the benefit of all that. It's interesting how our health is kind of the same way. A long time ago with each one of us, someone planted a seed And, you know, we were created and then born, and now we kind of go through seasons ourselves, especially on the cellular level, in our tissues, in our body. Everything has a turnover. Everything only lasts so long. In the garden, it goes month by month, season by season, year by year. But in your body, it just depends. The skin is very fast. Every 48 hours, you have a brand new layer of dead skin. Most of the dust in the house or home is actually dead skin. Other tissues are a little bit slower. Your liver is about every 30 days. You know, if you break a bone, it takes about 8 weeks to heal. And some people believe the entire body is kind of rejuvenated at some kind of frequency. Some people say it's 6 to 12 months, some people say it's 2 to 3 years, but it definitely has this turnover. And all it needs to be able to improve itself and maintain itself and sustain a good life is good function. It has to know what it has to do, just like that seed. It didn't need to think. It knew what it was going to do, but then it needs some support through good food and good function, right? So if you have a garden and you enjoy being in the garden, that's kind of awesome. It's creating a good experience for you every year. But if you don't have a garden, remember you are a garden, and it's good to take care of yourself just like someone might take care of their garden. And you want to be able to reap the harvest of that, alright? So when you're out there today Keep trying to water yourself, get some nutrients, get some sunshine, keep moving, get enough sleep, think positive, and just keep supporting your life. Okay? Create those great experiences. I'm going to share some more with you next time. Have a great day.
